On January 1, 2026, I lawfully entered into a one-pay lease agreement for a 2026 Toyota Tacoma (VIN: 3TMLB5JN3TM217266) with AutoNation Toyota Libertyville. I paid the full lease amount of $5,668 at sign lease agreement for a 2026 Toyota Tacoma (VIN: 3TMLB5JN3TM217266) with AutoNation Toyota Libertyville. I paid the full lease amount of $5,668 at signing. All required documentation was executed, my credit was checked, new license plates were issued, and I took lawful possession of the vehicle. At that point, the lease agreement was fully executed, binding, and enforceable. The paperwork was done by Michael Almadadheh Approximately two weeks later, I was contacted by a dealership representative, Michael Almadadheh, who stated there was a “paperwork issue” and requested that I return to the dealership to re-sign documents. Acting in good faith, and at significant inconvenience, I traveled approximately 50 minutes each way on my weekend to comply. During that visit, dealership (Eric Htun)staff took possession of my original January 1, 2026 executed lease agreement and explicitly stated that it would be shredded and replaced with new paperwork dated January 17, 2026. Unbeknownst to me at the time, the dealership materially altered the terms of the agreement. I was never informed of these changes, nor did I knowingly consent to them. This conduct constitutes misrepresentation and deceptive business practices. Approximately one week later, I was contacted again by the dealership and told that the vehicle had been leased to me for “too little money” and that I must return the truck. I advised them that I had fully performed under the contract and that a unilateral pricing or internal error did not entitle them to rescind a valid and binding agreement. Despite the fact that this issue arose solely from the dealership’s own mistake, I attempted to resolve the matter amicably and informed them that I was willing to come in and discuss payment options to retain the vehicle. Nevertheless, later that same day, without lawful justification or meaningful prior notice, AutoNation Toyota Libertyville caused the vehicle to be repossessed from my residence at approximately 1:00 a.m. The repossession was conducted in an aggressive, intimidating, and humiliating manner. Individuals banged on my front door and shined bright lights into my home, waking my family and causing severe emotional distress. My wife and children were traumatized in the middle of the night, and I was publicly humiliated in front of my neighbors. This conduct was wholly unnecessary, disproportionate, and abusive. Following this incident, the General Manager, Michael Yorty, contacted me and admitted that this situation was the dealership’s mistake and stated that they “take full responsibility” and would refund the full amount I paid. I responded that, if this was truly the dealership’s error, the appropriate resolution would be for them to absorb the loss and allow me to retain the vehicle. Mr. Yorty refused and stated that the dealership had the right to take the vehicle “at any given time,” despite the existence of a fully executed lease agreement. During this period, dealership representatives placed more than 50 phone calls to me. I explicitly requested that all further communication be conducted in writing via email. The dealership refused, stating that it was their “job to call” and that they did not have time to draft emails. This repeated and unwanted calling was harassing and appeared intended to pressure and intimidate me while avoiding a written record. As a direct result of AutoNation Toyota Libertyville’s actions, I lost possession of a vehicle for which I had already paid in full, suffered financial loss, and experienced significant emotional distress to myself and my family. It is especially troubling that a large, sophisticated dealership would engage in such conduct over an alleged pricing discrepancy of approximately $2,000—an error entirely of its own making. More
Even though we wound up not purchasing a vehicle this time around, Ethan was extremely helpful, thorough and most importantly honest. I will definitely return for my next vehicle purchase. time around, Ethan was extremely helpful, thorough and most importantly honest. I will definitely return for my next vehicle purchase. More
