Hopefully you get a salesperson that does not hang up on you or promise you things that they renege on when you present yourself as a serious buyer. Contacted the dealer through email from their website about a particular car on Tuesday. Got a text almost immediately from a salesperson asking for permission to contact via text. Replied quickly with a Yes to opt in to text. No response until three days later. I guess this says something about the salesperson or the dealer not needing business. Once contact was made 1. We expressed that we were ready to purchase 2. That we already test drove the car 3. That we already visited a dealer to see the various colors 4. Already know what packages we were interested in 5. Would sign paperwork immediately if the numbers worked. We did ask that this be done remotely as much as possible due to the fact that I was getting over COVID. First quote had quite a bit of add-ons, including tinted windows. Tinted windows was an issue since we were not sure if we wanted the windows tinted, the quality of the tint (eg, regular or ceramic, generic or name brand, etc), the darkness of the tint, etc. Second quote was closer to where we wanted to be but we were still having an issue with the TINT cost still remaining. We were told that the tint remained because it was already installed. We explained the concern we had with having a car already tinted (see above) and how additional costs would be incurred to remove the tint if we did not like it and the possibility of having the rear defroster lines damaged during the removal process. We asked for the salesperson to take pics of the car anyways to see if the tint was a deal breaker or if we could live with it. We explained to him that once we see the pics, we can decide if the tint is ok or if we will ask to see if he can get the cost of the tint removed. He agreed and said he would ask to have the cost of the tint removed from the quote one more time if that was still an issue after seeing the pics. Six hours later, no pics were received until I texted him about it. I called after seeing the pics to ask if he could try to get the cost of the tint removed from the selling price. He NOW says that the cost of the tint was already "factored into the savings" with the second quote. This was NOT stated initially at 10am (first contact). I verbally told him I'm ready to pull the trigger at the selling price offered on the 2nd quote just minus the tint. He did not offer to ask the sales manager. During the conversation, I asked if the deal for this car did not work out, if there were any other cars on the lot that were similar without the tint. He said ALL the cars on the lot are tinted. To clarify, I asked again, so if we can't make a deal on this car because of the tint, you are saying that we cannot make a deal on any other car on the lot because ALL of them are already tinted?. He said "OK" and hung up. Not sure what "OK" meant, I texted him asking to confirm so that was it and no deal? No response. I called into the dealer to ask for another salesperson because I still wanted to see if the deal could be worked out. Spoke to someone else. He appeared to be familiar with the deal that we were working on. He said ok to the tint removal and the agreed upon price. I said "OK. Send me the paperwork. I'll do whatever you need me to do remotely." He tells me to come into the store. I tell him "I'm getting over COVID. You really want me to come in there and shake your hand? Use your pen to sign? Touch your forms?" He says "OK, I will email you the contract." Having been told that this deal was for today only, I was expecting to get an email with the contract to sign. Email never came. I guess they are a volume dealer so they don't need business. More
