BEWARE OF THEIR MILESTONE MILEAGE INSPECTIONS - COST US OVER $700 WHEN WE ONLY CAME IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE The last time I had brought in our Forester for an oil change was April. At that time, they set u OVER $700 WHEN WE ONLY CAME IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE The last time I had brought in our Forester for an oil change was April. At that time, they set up another appointment for late October but didn't tell me what mileage to come back so I was going by the appointment they set up. We realized that the car had a lot of miles on it since the previous appointment so I called to get the oil changed earlier by phone. The person who took my call said I could not do a waiting appointment and that it needed to be dropped off. I asked her why with just an oil change and she said we missed a 30k mile check and would need to do that which included an inspection, tire rotation, and alignment. I let her know I didn't want the alignment done because we were planning to have our snow tires put on soon and that would be done then so we just want our oil changed. My husband dropped off the car at the appointment time and is told again that we missed the 30k mile check and it's really important but because I had already said we just wanted an oil change he thought it was simply an inspection given that no one explained what this check was. He was told to sign the paperwork per usual as we always have when dropping off the car but no one ever pointed out a cost associated with this appointment and he didn't think to check as we had oil changes included in our service contract. Every single time we have dropped cars at dealerships or other autoshops we are counseled on issues and things that may need to be changed so we can make informed decisions. We never received a call during the time the car was with Autonation Subaru. Lo and behold when they tell my husband his car is done they ask for his Veteran's ID for a discount and say the price was brought down to $875! Amongst the things they NEVER explained was the alignment that was done. This was NOT a cost we were expecting to pay for nor were we specifically asked if we wanted it. We just came in for an oil change with the expectation as we have had every single time we've ever had during oil changes that issues are explained to us with the cost to fix those issues. This was NEVER done. And when we called for clarification after on this deceptive practice I was told my husband signed for it when he dropped the car off. It feels like they tricked him as they ALWAYS ask us to sign when we drop the car off but they never, ever said there would be an expense associated especially when we had no reason to think there would be an expense when having our oil changed as an included service in our contract. They were able to discount us another 15% but I am still out over $700 that we had no intention of spending and they gave us zero choice in spending. They even did the alignment that I asked them not to do. It is a disgustingly deceptive service - we just wanted an oil change and expected a call if anything else was suggested with their "complimentary inspection". This is NOT how it should be done. I would caution anyone using Autonation Subaru, or Autonation and Subaru separately. I am so angry about this experience that I can't say I would ever recommend buying a Subaru again. This service practice is appalling. More

I took my Outback here for a recall that required a fuel pump replacement. I made an appointment a week in advance, dropped off before 8 and was told it would be done before 5. That afternoon I got a text pump replacement. I made an appointment a week in advance, dropped off before 8 and was told it would be done before 5. That afternoon I got a text that it was running behind, but still would be done by 5. At 5, still no update, so I called since I needed to pick up the car and head home. Stayed on hold 15 minutes, finally got to talk to the service manager, who said he would call me back in 1 minute. 15 minutes later he calls back and confirms it is ready, just needs another 20 minutes to finish up the paperwork. I head to the dealership, wait another 15 minutes to talk to someone, then another 10 to get my car. Finally roll out after 6, late to pick up my kids with a car that reeks of gas, the gas tank down a 1/4 tank and all the car seats uninstalled and thrown in the backseat. I was hoping the smell would clear out after a ride. I park in our garage, and we were outside for a while. When I came back in, our entire house reeked of gasoline!! I pulled the car out, so it could air out and I could install the car seats again. I actually got a headache from the fumes while installing the car seats outside. I call them the next day to complain. They assured me it wasn't leaking and they didn't spill any, and said there is normally a slight smell of gas after the pump change, but it normally subsides after a day or two. He said it is worse if the gas tank is full, which would have been great to know before I filled up the day before since I don't like my car to stink like gas, and I don't like gas that I paid for to be dumped down the drain. He offered to run a deodorizer on it if I brought it back in. Unfortunately my next few days were busy, so I didn't have time to waste going back to the dealership for who knows how long it would take to run the deodorizer. I feel like this should be standard if someone is getting a fuel pump replaced. It has now been two weeks, and the smell has mostly subsided, but I can still smell it when I get into the car. I took my new, perfectly running car in for a recall, got it back late, reeking of gas, and down a 1/4 tank of gas. I would think for the amount of fuel pumps they would have had to replace they would have it down, but that was certainly not the case. I will not be taking my car back for service here, if they can't handle a routine recall, they certainly wouldn't be able to handle anything unexpected. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars rather than one, is because he did offer to run a deodorizer on it after the fact, and I didn't take them up on it, but honestly I don't have the time to waste on them.
