After months of looking for a car and dealing with different vendors, I finally found AutoNation Honda Costa Mesa. It was refreshing to say the least. No games, no lies, no last minute bumps in price. different vendors, I finally found AutoNation Honda Costa Mesa. It was refreshing to say the least. No games, no lies, no last minute bumps in price. They did everything they said they would and made it fairly painless to just buy a car. We drove it, they put it up on the rack and let me look at the underside for leaks/damage. I took it to my mechanic since they have a 5 day return policy and everything checked out. I bought a good car at a good price with no hassle. That is what I couldn't find at the other vendors. It shouldn't be this hard. More

On 2/13/22, my wife and I walked in to look at a 2015 CR-V out the door for $20,915.78 with all fees and taxes included except financing. Fouad was the car salesmen who helped us with details regarding t CR-V out the door for $20,915.78 with all fees and taxes included except financing. Fouad was the car salesmen who helped us with details regarding the vehicle. Let me start by saying that Fouad was not familiar with the car. Then I pointed out some scratches on the outside door panel and I asked if we buy it, can he help with getting the car buffed and waxed to remove scratches on the house, and He responded “sure but not today because the service department is closed but you can bring it in and call.” The issue is he never gave me a name, number, or document stating that he was going to help. I asked him if he was a man of his word and he said yes, we shook hands. Then financing happened. We came in with a pre-approval with our credit Union but it was a little less than the total of the car. We wanted to purchase the car with zero down, so the financing department ran our credit to increase the limit. We got approved at 7.85% “supposedly” for $384/month for 68 months. I agreed to the number. Then he said he was going to get the car ready by washing it. When we were in the financing office, we were helped by Omar Alamir who appeared friendly but If you walk in to the dealership and go through financing with him, PLEASE READ ALL DOCUMENTS AND GRAB YOUR CALCULATOR AND DO YOUR MATH!! Please pay close attention. My wife and I started signing paperwork, when he started presenting us with warranties like Gap, extended warranties, etc. I told him I was not interested but to go ahead and show them to me. He showed them to me, and he asked if I was interested in Gap insurance and extended warranty, I told him no. He followed up by asking me that if he could get me the warranties and gap insurance for the same monthly payment, if I’d be okay with it, I said “sure but only if you’re not up charging me. I don’t want no hidden fees, no scams! Full transparency” and he said “of course” I said okay, let’s see the numbers. He said he was able to get me the extended warranty and gap insurance for $383/month for 68 months which was one dollar less per month than the original. This is when everything starts going downhill. Once we started filling the paperwork, I see the “Retail installment contract” document with all the itemized amounts of what we were paying, when I noticed that the interest rate was actually 2.49% and there was a $2,499 extended warranty and $749 gap insurance with the grand total for the car being $24,163!!! That’s WHEN I REALIZED THEY WERE TRYING TO DECEIVE ME!! I began breaking down the numbers and comparing them to the itemized original estimate. I point out the interest rate and the extended warranties, and I told him no to all warranties. I then told them the interest rate was a total lie and it was 2.49% but they were telling me all along that it was 7.85%. I got upset and I told Omar I didn’t want the warranty and I wanted the car for the original price I was given. Then Omar called another employee, I don’t remember the name but it was some Dorky Asian dude with glasses Who began trying to upsell me the extended warranties. I told him no! Once they realized I was upset and began calling them out on their lies, they decided to skip the warranties and sell me the car for the original price they gave me but this time only including the gap insurance. I finished all the paperwork and signed the deal. I told Omar in front of Fouad that he shook hands with me to fixing those scratches, and getting the passenger visor lights fixed along with a plastic that is hanging on passenger front door. Fouad said yes, I will, just call and we can set it up. I told Fouad that if he was a man of his word and he said “of course. I barely got the car two days ago, and I know I have the money-back guarantee for 5 days or 250 miles. My wife and I are considering on returning the vehicle. Would I return to this dealership to purchase a car… No! Would I recommend this dealership to others…. No! More
