It was my first time with AutoNation, as I am from the DMV area (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia). I was met by Craig Lipply with smiles, a personality of acceptance and information of what had to be done to repair my Honda. Craig escorted me to the lobby and told me not worry while waiting. He was an air of comfort and trust. I just knew my Honda was in good hands. They fixed everything! I drove away feeling safe in my Honda. My vehicle is driving beautifully. Craig gave me his business card with instructions to call whenever I needed help. I will always go to AutoNation and will recommend AutoNation to all my friends and family! A very poor experience. I was 800 miles away so I needed the salesperson to honestly tell me and facetime me the vehicle condition. Salesperson stated "it has new tires". And it was a Certified Pre Owned. the salesperson to honestly tell me and facetime me the vehicle condition. Salesperson stated "it has new tires". And it was a Certified Pre Owned. So I purchased a plane ticket for the next day, flew down, the second I saw the vehicle, I had no reason to doubt anything and closed the deal and drove home. Since was 800 mile drive, also had to spend one night in a hotel. The next day while driving, I noticed the ride was kind of rough and the rear tires were had a lot of road noise. When I got home, I checked and found that only the front tires were new. I immediately contacted the dealership. The GM stated that even though the salesman initially advised it had new tires, that did not necessarily mean it had 4 new tires! And stated that since it is a CPO, that by the CPO standards required, the rear tire tread only had to be 5/32". So I measured the tread depth and round many areas where the tread depth was close to 2/32". At first, the dealership basically said it sucks to be me. I contacted Honda Corporate and they could care less. The GM was willing to replace the rear tires, but only if I took time out of my schedule to visit another Honda dealer for them to confirm the tread depth, then take more time out of my schedule to have the tires replaced. This was time that the GM was not willing to compensate me once they confirmed my findings. So the GM decided to "unwind" the deal and refund me for the purchase and send a truck to pick up the vehicle, which was all done. Upon the dealership receiving the vehicle back, they did confirm the rear tires were not up to CPO requirements, the GM admitted this and said they were replacing those tires before selling again. I felt that since the salesperson lied to me initially by telling me "it had new tires", which the GM wants to play word games about. And the negligence of their technician that certified this vehicle without doing the proper measurements, that they should reimburse me for my plane ticket and lodging. The GM declined to offer any reimbursement and only gave the reason for these failures as "people are human". And also stated "this is probably not the first time that someone's negligence has cost you money". While my travel and lodging amounted to about $400, I feel that if the salesperson was honest and said it only had new front tires and the rears have 44,000 miles on them, I would not have purchased a plane ticket. Even without the word games the GM wants to play about having new tires. The aspect of this being a Certified Pre Owned vehicle was a total misrepresentation as the technician was negligent and did not do the required inspection and falsified the inspection report, not to mention, put me on the road for 800 miles with rear tires that were way past requirement and potentially put my life at risk. That this dealer should be responsible for my financial loss. And through all of this, the salesperson admitted he advised me it had new tires and the GM admitted the tires did not meet CPO qualifications. There has not been a single apology. Only that their dishonesty and negligence were caused by people being human, and for that, I should suffer the financial loss of my travel and lodging. I tried calling AutoNation corporate office and they also could care less. So for anyone that reads this, I cannot stress enough to proceed with caution when dealing with an AutoNation store. This was my first dealing with AutoNation and it will be my last. More
