AutoNation was pretty quick in terms of a oil change. I was a little surprised they tried sell me an oil additive in addition to the $71 oil change for a synthetic-blend, which seemed a little high, but I was a little surprised they tried sell me an oil additive in addition to the $71 oil change for a synthetic-blend, which seemed a little high, but maybe it was just the inflation effect after getting a $50 oil change last time with a dealer coupon. The print out I received after picking up my truck was not clear as to whether or not they installed an update for a cam phaser issue. I had to call back a few times to finally reach my original service writer to find out the update had been installed, even though one of the service people I talked to said they did not usually install it unless you had noticed the symptoms, which I had not. So, a clearer print out both in legibility and in language would have helped. My main concern was a clear indication as to whether Ford would stand behind any future cam phaser problem now that the update has been installed. It would also be nice if I could get the version number of my truck’s ECM code from the dashboard display so I could know what I have before and after visiting the dealer, or print it on the receipt so I could have a definite record of what was done and when, in case the update actually caused a problem, like it apparently has for some 3.5L engines. (I don’t mind paying a little more taking to the dealer if I get precision and confidence. Not sure if I did in terms of records that I could have in my hand and scan into my computer.) It’s a great truck and I want to keep it that way and be able to prove it was maintained well and correctly so it lasts a long time. More
