He showed me several different makes and models, explaining to me the different options each one had. In the end, it was the Subaru Legacy all the way. . . I purchased the car over the weekend, and it was ready to go when Jim said it would be ready to go. I was so impressed with working with him, I had my son contact Jim for his next purchase. More
Service lied when evaluating issue covered by warranty I cannot express how dissatisfied I am with the deceit and outright lies I received at AutoFair Subaru of Haverhill when I went to their service depar I cannot express how dissatisfied I am with the deceit and outright lies I received at AutoFair Subaru of Haverhill when I went to their service department. If I could rate them negative, I certainly would. Please avoid this dealership at all costs. I apologize for the length of this but the amount of lies that were spun to me has to be fully disclosed. My daughter’s recently purchased 2010 Outback with 150K+ miles had an obvious CVT transmission fluid leak. Every time it was parked in my driveway, there was a small wet spot under it the next morning. Because of the leak, the car began to shudder on acceleration so I crawled under the car and pumped 2 quarts of CVT fluid into the transmission to stop the shuddering. When I found the leak was not something I could repair, I did some research and found that the transmission warranty had been recently been extended on this model through July of 2018. I called AutoFair Subaru in Haverhill, explained the situation and told them of the shudder and transmission leak and that I thought it was covered by the extended warranty. I dropped the car off Friday morning and Friday night at 7:00 I received a call from the service advisor looking to speak with my daughter. She is studying abroad for a semester so I told him that I was dealing with her car issues. He proceeded to state the shudder wasn’t reproducible and that there wasn’t any detectable leak from the transmission. The shudder not being reproduced I believed due to my addition of the 2 quarts of CVT fluid, but I knew xxxx well there was an transmission fluid leak that a high school auto shop student could find (Lie #1). Their eagle-eye inspection couldn’t find the obvious leak but inspection of the rest of the car found $863 worth of recommended services, including draining and filling the CVT to ensure it was “at the proper levels” for $228. I had the service advisor confirm again with the technician that there was no leak and then let him know that I had added the 2 Qts of CVT fluid so I knew there was most certainly a leak. I refused any of the other services they suggested and was told that I would get a call from Nancy the next day to figure out where to go next. Talked with Nancy on Saturday and there were no technicians available to take a 2nd look at the vehicle so that would have to be done on Monday. I called at 5:00 Monday and talked with Nancy who reported the technician now could see slight seepage coming from the transmission pan and it looks like the pan may have been bent and/or replaced without a good seal and would cost $650 to fix (Lie #2). I had been under the car looking for the source of the leak and knew for sure it was not the pan, the leak was coming from higher up on the transmission near the torque converter (see TSB 16-103-16R mentioned in the extended warranty). I said I wanted to come in and have the car up on a lift to have the technician show me where the leak was. Tuesday morning I brought the loaner back and went with the slick service manager, Robert, and the technician who tried to explain how the leak was coming from the pan because that is where it was dripping from but didn’t have an answer for when I put my finger up by the front of the transmission up high and came down with a blob of CVT fluid that was flowing down to the pan and falling off. I asked how they had missed the leak to begin with and the technician said he told the service advisor he couldn’t figure out where the leak was coming from, not that there was no leak so it was a communication problem (Lie #3). Then the service manager pointed to some orange lettering with a flashlight on the transmission stating that the CVT had been re-manufactured (Lie #4) and wouldn’t be covered by warranty unless I worked through SOA who may grant me a waiver. I had them take the car of the lift and left the dealership absolutely disgusted. I immediately put in a service request at McGovern Subaru in North Hampton NH and also put a call in with SOA explaining what had happened. After evaluation, the service technician at McGovern agreed with my assessment that this CVT leak issue was covered under the extended warranty and they determined there was no way to prove or disprove the transmission had been remanufactured so my daughter’s car is now getting a re-manufactured transmission installed and my diagnosis of this issue was vindicated. My theory is AutoFair Subaru intentionally overlooked my daughters CVT transmission leak, possibly because she was a female, hoping she would believe their assessment. I think the reasoning behind this was that AutoFair Subaru was hoping the car wouldn’t get fixed under warranty and after the extended warranty expired in July 2018, they could profit by then diagnosing the leak and fixing it with a whole new transmission. Buyer Beware - Mixed Review Happy with the follow up from the General Manager and Service Manager to have items installed that should have been factory installed. Not so happy w Happy with the follow up from the General Manager and Service Manager to have items installed that should have been factory installed. Not so happy with the Sales experience except for the person who took the test drive with me. She explained things about the vehicle based on personal experience. Quoted a $350 price match guarantee, but believe they did NOT really look at the revised quote from Exeter dealership. FIVE visits later, finally had all the expected items installed at no additional costs, but not w/o the first ding on passenger side door. 1st one is always the most difficult, but had the body side mouldings been on factory direct, no direct impact to door...1st week of having car. Am enjoying the 2018 Crosstrek and will go for the services that I have already purchased, but have great reservations on a future car purchase here, For that matter, the entire car sales process regardless of the dealership has always left me with buyers remorse, My 3rd Subaru now...not the brand!! Hindsight: should have waited and purchased elsewhere even though the vehicle was delivered in about a week, w/o everything that should have been factory installed. Moving forward of course.... More
A Dealership that Makes it Happen I was in contact with 7 Subaru dealers. 3 dealers agreed with my offer, without a remote starter ($450 option). Not only did Autofair say yes, but t I was in contact with 7 Subaru dealers. 3 dealers agreed with my offer, without a remote starter ($450 option). Not only did Autofair say yes, but they installed it the same day on the car that I wanted. Alvin, the sales rep, was very knowledgeable and helpful about my Outback Limited purchase. His manager, Roscoe, was instrumental in negotiating the final deal. I am very excited about this beautiful, loaded, brand new Outback! More

Exactly what the coporate dealership is supose to be. They train their service people to up sell, and that's okay, but when a customer wants something less than the up sell the training falls short. I ca They train their service people to up sell, and that's okay, but when a customer wants something less than the up sell the training falls short. I called in for an 18K service on my 2016 Outback. The quote was $389.00 for the 18k service that is $189.00 to $219.00 at other Subaru dealers. I was ready to pay about $200.00 but I felt that the 389 was out of line. I asked if they would do just the oil/filter, & tire rotation they said "we will not do that". Okay, I'll go somewhere else.
