Jay, we’re sorry to hear about your experience. We strive to provide all of our customers with a world class experience and apologize that we have let you down. For clarification, once title and documentation fees are set in place, no dealership has the ability to waive them for some people and not others. Dealerships can not randomly change them either, those practices are illegal. The title fee goes directly to the state and is not collected as profit. There are a lot of overhead costs that go into the purchase of a motor vehicle. Unbeknownst to most, dealerships are legally required to keep and store customer information for 7 years. If done properly, this is expensive. We handle a massive amount of title processing and financial transactions, check for and complete all recalls, we also check vehicle history and titles against fraud and brandishing. We complete required forms and contracts that protect consumer interests, we file and clear liens, process rebates and incentives for consumers, and we keep consumers informed on all rights and obligations. The dealership also purchases required forms and supplies, maintains technology to process titled purchases and protect our customers. We maintain profession licenses, train staff to carry out laws that protect our customers and maintain the required dealer bond.
