Lies & Broken Promises We were impressed with the deal we found on a 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300. I called & spoke with salesperson, Anthony who had us drive all the way from ce We were impressed with the deal we found on a 2009 Mercedes-Benz C300. I called & spoke with salesperson, Anthony who had us drive all the way from central Baltimore to the Bel Air location (40 minutes away) for a test drive. He failed to tell me during the call that we would have to place a deposit before the test drive because “it’s a high-priced, luxury vehicle,” even though we had a down payment that would cover 50% of the vehicle’s listed price, in addition to immaculate credit history. Despite being treated like thieves, we drove up & did some “preliminary paperwork” before the test drive. We were awed by the Benz quality & fell in love with it. I did notice an intermittent thumping noise in the front passenger side wheel. I figured it was a faulty strut/mount & pointed it out to Anthony. He assured us that all vehicles are inspected/reconditioned & they would fix any issues. After calculating, the cost was ~$4,000 more than the Cars.com price. After haggling with Anthony & the owner (Mike?), we got an ideal price & started paperwork. I noticed the “We Owe” form said “N/A.” Anthony shrugged it off saying “We don’t put those things on there.” The shop closed, so they said we could bring it back to get detailed anytime. Anthony didn't have a business card, so he gave me his cell number, to call/text if needed. We heard the thumping noise the next day & I texted Anthony - he said “bring the car up so I can see what you are talking about.” Even though this was known, I played along just to get it fixed. I went on Friday & sat in the waiting room for 3+ hours while they checked & “detailed” it (still had scuff s, footprints & dirty sunroof). Service tech, Emmanuel confirmed my suspicions but they were backed up & needed to order parts. I made an appointment with Brian (service manager) for 2 weeks out. We dropped it off the evening prior. Next morning, Brian called asking why it was there… I explained what I could recall from two weeks prior. He said he would check & call me back. I waited all day and at 6pm I called him back. He said ‘E’ was off that day & he couldn't figure it out, so it would have to wait until the next day. Couldn’t he call me earlier so I could make transportation arrangements?! What was the point of setting an appointment if he isn’t recording the issues?! We just wanted it fixed so we let them hold it for another day. Brian called me the next day saying he had the parts, but it wasn’t under warranty, so it would cost us. Until this point, we were led to believe these repairs would be covered since the inspection/reconditioning was missed & no one mentioned this policy before. He couldn’t offer more information or a price quote. We hadn’t made arrangements to accommodate yet another day without a car, so I told him to forget it. Right after, I texted Anthony about this whole experience and asked for his advice. There has been no word since then. We treated everyone at Auto Showcase with dignity & respect, whether or not they treated us the same (for instance, the stuffy, moody showroom staff). We sent them a certified letter explaining our experience & requested reimbursement for the $1300 repair made at an AUTHORIZED Benz dealer. Of course, no response, yet again... Our experience was tolerable until the dotted line was signed. It’s scary that they let people drive off with cars in bad/dangerous condition. So, I say to all shoppers, DO NOT ignore the negative reviews or the ‘F’ rating from the Better Business Bureau! I’ve made it my mission to warn the internet: STAY AWAY FROM AUTO SHOWCASE! More
