So, let the buyer beware. I’m in Connecticut…911 Carrera S is in Virginia. My friend checks out the car and gives it a thumbs up. I call the dealer and do a FaceTime walk around with Nick. He’s pleasant enough and seemed to know a bit about Porsche. The ad on their website as well as what is fed to all the other websites clearly stated NEW tires in capital letters. I confirmed with Nick and he said yes the tires were all new. He continued on to say that if a car doesn’t have 90% tread they replace the tires. I then went on to deal with Amir to make the purchase. He also acknowledged that the tires on the car were all NEW as stated in their advertising. I purchased over the phone and took Amtrak down a couple of days later to pick it up. My friend picked us up at the train and brought us to the dealer. At this point it’s dark and they’re getting ready to close. Nick gives me the key (yes there was only one) and I proceeded to check around the car. It’s dark so I never could have seen the tread on the tires. We looked at a few other cars and then headed off to dinner. The next morning when we were packing the car to head back to Connecticut I noticed the rear tires had no tread. Bizarre since a Virginia state inspection station just put a sticker on it. We drove home and I made an appointment with my Porsche specialist. Fortunately the car checks out great and the only thing I had to do was put new rear tires on it and fix the lift on the passenger window. I’ve waited a couple weeks as I did reach out to Amir, Nick and who I believe to be the manager James and no one has bothered to respond. Would I have bought the car if I knew it had bald tires…yes. They seem to have a nice array of cars so I would recommend them but with caution. I reported to the state police in Virginia but they said unless I drove the car back down there for them to inspect there’s not much they can do. They noted the station that did the inspection and will watch if this dealer is getting stickers on cars that shouldn’t pass. More

James, I am writing this email after just coming from a performance shop with the news nobody likes to hear or live with. I got taken. Shame on me for not having an independent mechanic to look over this car before I bought it. The thing is I should have known better. I will not go into all the details about what is wrong with the car suffice to say too stop all the leaks, reposition the clutch, so it does not hit the oil filter and poke a hole in which it did, and replace the exhaust. It will cost me $7K. To say I am disappointed is and understatement. Additionally it’s not even a 427 engine it’s a 454. So at the end of the day you all made a ton of money off of my impulsiveness to finally own my dream car. You read about these stories everyday I just never thought I would be the star player. I probably would have still bought it had you been honest with me and dropped the price by $5K. Shame on me and shame on Auto By Design. Frank More

They worked with me to lengthen the hold time on my deposit. There was an immediate trust established between myself and them that I have never experienced with any other car dealer. RUN from this dealership! They are scammers and liars and their state inspection process has the accuracy of Helen Keller shooting in the dark. They are NOT car people and as long as you walk in with a check their state inspection process has the accuracy of Helen Keller shooting in the dark. They are NOT car people and as long as you walk in with a check they will take it and leave you high and dry. Our vehicle was inspected by a certified dealership after the sale. They offered us $300 for a repair that will cost us nearly 5k to repair completely. We will be contacting the appropriate state agencies and federal agencies regarding the falsified state inspections and this isn't the end of this issue. We are not the only one who has been scammed and insulted by this location and won't be the last. Front lower core support has damage. Engine belt noise. Rear main seal leaking oil. Oil pan leaking oil. Rear differential leaking oil. Rear brake lines severely rusty. Rear ride height sensors are broken. Front suspension leaf spring is starting to crack. Transmission lines are starting to leak. Right side skid plate is pushed into the gas tank, gas tank does not appear to be damaged. Front and rear shocks are leaking Tires were mounted incorrectly. Original customer service and willingness to help me get the vehicle I wanted was great from the salesman James. But once I started asking questions about the vehicle and purchased things went down hill fro the vehicle I wanted was great from the salesman James. The dealership was trying to go as cheap as possible with shipping and took almost 2 weeks for me to receive my vehicle. Would have take. Longer but I ended up adding money on top of what they were offering to finally get a company to pick it up. I specifically asked the salesman if the vehicle had rust to which he replied “the vehicle is in pristine condition and looks like it’s been under coated”. When I received the vehicle I noticed flakes falling off of the frame as it was unloaded. Then I noticed the sides of the frame had been spray painted. Then I started having electrical problems. Contacted Auto By Design at which time they seemed wanted to be helpful regarded electrical but not caring about the rust. Took the vehicle to a local dealership and received a parts replacement list that was ridiculous for a dealership to claim they do a 106 point inspection on vehicles prior to selling. The rust on the vehicle is so bad that I’m having to replace tie rods, upper control arms, ball joints, sway bar links, and rear sub frame. Both front wheel bearing are bad, driver seat module is bad and AC blend door is bad. This dealership is full of crap about their inspection. No xxxx reason I should be having to replace all these parts on a vehicle claimed to have had a 106 point inspection and not be told about how much rust is actually on the vehicle. On top of that the dealership has completely stopped responding and will not offer any help. Extremely disappointed and feel scammed. More
