This review relates to the dealership add-on of ceramic coating. Purchased 2019 Audi SQ5 certified in 6/2023. It's noted in quotes on the website that all cars receive this protective treatment. Not noted coating. Purchased 2019 Audi SQ5 certified in 6/2023. It's noted in quotes on the website that all cars receive this protective treatment. Not noted is that it is not included in the price and appears as $1310 add-on. Summarizing: we didn't like it, tried to negotiate it out, reluctantly signed. It is basically presented as a required item as it "has already been added, can't be removed, etc." per dealer GM Sam Alimi. He noted benefits, stressing "7-year warranty". I requested the dealership service records which we received after signing up the deal and taking delivery. My review a few days later revealed that the dealer applied this coating three times since 2019 (each time it has sold the car): when new, when resold for the first time (11/2021) and prior to sale to us (5/2023). That's 1 year and 6 months between the last two applications. I then contacted the coating manufacturer and warranty provider who advised very clearly that "there is absolutely no need to reapply within the 7-yr warranty period" and that the "warranty is transferable, goes with the vehicle. Contact us at the end of the 7 years for reapplication and a new, limited, warranty.” Obviously, the dealer knew this information when it pushed the benefits of this product we were basically forced to accept (see comments in first paragraph). With this new information, we filed a claim for consumer assistance with the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board of Virginia requesting a refund of the $999 we paid. The dealer ignored the Board's request for a response. The Board advised that we need to take the dealer to court. Even given the small amount involved, we may do so as a matter of principle. Note that the MVDBVa Board of Directors consists almost entirely of car dealers. We take responsibility for signing the deal. We didn't like it but resigned ourselves to unhappily absorbing the charge as a cost of doing business. That’s on us. But that was prior to having the product knowledge we gained after the fact. It was not supplied prior to signing documents despite requests. For comparison, we had thoroughly researched the vehicle make and model prior to purchase and knew what we were getting. The dealer knows the game: delay, ignore, try to personally connect as really nice people to avoid hard issues. But the fact remains that they took money from us for a product they knowingly misrepresented. We've acquired four Audis, three Lexus, three Acuras and two Volvos over the years. This is the most dishonest experience we've had. We will never again buy from a Penske dealer. That won't matter to them, of course; we're just a couple individuals, small in the overall scheme of things. My advice if you buy a used vehicle from Audi Tysons Corner is to get those service records PRIOR to the whole ceramic coating add-on issue. They will still try to ram it through the deal but at least you will be educated about the product application and can ask the appropriate questions. What they did in our case simply can’t be defended. This dealer relies upon its buyers to accept the add-on as an unnecessary evil of buying a car and, also, to not expend effort to question it More

He answered all my questions and was very patient while I debated over what to do with my leased Q3. I opted to purchase it, but I will be back to purchase again and will definitely come to Dimitris and Audi Tyson’s Corner. Thank you for providing such amazing customer service! More
