Hi Core, I regret your unpleasant experience. It is not the Bernardi Audi way. Error was found when quoting and billing the service and Kevin had since contacted your fiancée. He understood where the errors were made and agreed that a complementary oil change and detail would be adequate compensation. Two problems that were discovered upon internal diagnosis after the preliminary estimate was given were mechanical damage to the shift linkage and water damage to the shiftronic circuit board. It was the physical inability to examine the circuit board for damage prior to the estimate that clouded the estimate. When Kevin got this news he reported it to your fiancée and explained an additional $160 would be required to which he agreed. Kevin also explained at that time that the transmission possibly would need to be moved but the quote would cover the labor if it were needed. I also sincerely regret you felt slighted in these conversations. We have reviewed our actions and certainly intend for something like this to never repeat itself. In addition to mechanical maintenance, we also provide inspection stickers, tires, windshield repair or replacement, ding and bumper nicks and alloy wheel repair, and much more. Dear Newtonbuyer, I truly regret that this negotiation went so sour. It is not the Bernardi way and certainly was not meant to be so. I wish I had heard from you directly during or after your visit. I have reviewed your email communications with the store. This writing is in sincere terms and hopes you will feel free to stop in and see me personally, and to let you know I am determined to find a reasonable measure (maybe through our service department) by which to reach out to you as an Audi owner. With regards to your trade in, the estimate provided was given in good faith subject to seeing your car. I ask for this latitude in your interpretation in the same way we would expect a customer's phone offer on one of our pre-owned cars to be subject to their visual inspection of the car in person because of the nuances which escape phone descriptions. Where your email indicated you understood the destination charge of $825 would have to be paid in addition to your offer, I can understand the ambiguity to have included this charge in your offer. With regards to the documentation charge, I believe what was meant is that all dealers have one, not that all dealers charge the same fee. Bernardi’s fee is in fact one of the lowest in this greater Boston area. Again, I deeply regret any miscommunication and invite you to reach me personally.
