Dealing with David Just a brief post on my great experience in dealing with David Falkman at Audi. In general I'm not a big blogger or poster but had to comment on this experience. I looked at and drove several different brands to the car that I bought and a large part of deciding on my A7 was not just the great ride it had but how comfortable and accommodating David was to deal with. The follow up has been great and I assume the service will be as well. Keep up the great work!! More
So I find a 2010 A6 in their inventory and inquire about the vehicle online. A sales rep named Mark Landy calls me on a Thursday afternoon, and I tell him what I'm looking for (even though he should have a the vehicle online. A sales rep named Mark Landy calls me on a Thursday afternoon, and I tell him what I'm looking for (even though he should have already known from my email inquiry). He tells me he needs to find out for sure if the car is on the lot and will call me back. He did not call me back. On Friday, I inquire by instant message again, and get a hold of someone else. They pull my name and ask if I was working with Mark Landy. I told them Mark initially called me the day before, but did not get back to me, and that I did not care who I worked with. Again I inquired about the vehicle but was told I would get a call back. Later that day, I receive an email from Mark saying that he was with customers through close the day before and could not get back to me, and that he was still trying to locate the vehicle and would talk to his pre-owned manager the next day in the a.m. (Saturday). Saturday morning he emails me, telling me that the car is on the lot, and was unavailable for a while because one of the rims needed to be worked on. I make the 25 mile drive and guess what, they tell me the car was sold the day before. I just couldn't believe it. This guy tells me THAT MORNING that the car was on the lot. Of course, they proceed to try to sell me a different A6. If that is not a textbook bait and switch tactic, I don't know what is. It appears Carousel Audi is the cliche of a sleazy dealership, telling you anything to get you into their doors and attempt to sell you anything they have. I'm still looking for a car, and if I decide on an Audi, I'll give Maplewood Audi a shot at earning my business, and not this boiler room. More
Service makes the sale. The product will bring you in the door, but the service makes the sale. Now - in my opinion a sale isn't just about what's being purchased - tangibly; it's also the experience, t the door, but the service makes the sale. Now - in my opinion a sale isn't just about what's being purchased - tangibly; it's also the experience, the support, the follow-through, and the quality. In my individual experience - Mark Landy IS Audi. He represented his brand as a subject matter expert (not just a lame walk around kicking tires); he knows his stuff, and manages very well to be professional, courteous, and representative of a brand of luxury, all without being pretentious, or condescending (believe it or not - a tough shoe to fill for some). To me - what that "extra mile" means, is going above and beyond what is expected in a manner that attempts to read between the lines of the specific customer, and maximizing your talent to the benefit of others. Representing to them, and for them - meeting their needs uniquely, but while remaining - as I said - professional and consistent across the board. Mark met each need that I had, making a busy Saturday, last minute sale work and focusing without distraction. Going into that Audi dealership - don't get me wrong - I had a higher expectation of their service above what I'd expect at a local Chevy dealer for example - and the littlest of things Mark did throughout the entire process all tended to add up quickly to that luxury service. The staff I encountered at Carousel (Audi Mpls) that day (and in my two subsequent visits) were also friendly and helpful. While I waited in the customer area, I witnessed no less than two Service Advisors gladly assisting customers (and their children) - coaching them on their vehicle's function, and striking up a more casual conversation (engaging who they have in their store, vs. just having their own employee discussions around the water cooler). I spoke with one of the gentlemen in Parts, and he too entertained each of my questions about wax, splash guards, etc - happily and proud of his brand. Now....I have only had my vehicle for about five days now, and have not had any direct Service or follow-up encounter needs as of yet, so all I can be is hopeful that the service which Mark provides cascades throughout that building. I brought my 2003 Audi A4 here for an oil and filter change and also told them that about every 2000 miles my low oil light comes on. An hour or so after leaving the lot in a nice 2013 A4 provided by t change and also told them that about every 2000 miles my low oil light comes on. An hour or so after leaving the lot in a nice 2013 A4 provided by the rental car place collocated with the dealership the service representative called me and said my A4 had two issues. First, the oil pan was cracked and they couldn't change the oil and second the CAM was leaking oil. They wanted to replace the oil pan at a cost of $1200 and repair the CAM for $400. Being expensive repairs I said I would get back to him after investigating the retail price of the repair costs. I browsed around the web and found the oil pan replacement should be about an $800 repair, $400 under what I was quoted. I called back to negotiate and he said they would go no lower than $1100. I told them I would not pay that and I got my vehicle serviced someplace else that quoted $750 for the oil pan replacement. After 15 minutes the other place told me I did not have a cracked oil pan and fixed the actual oil leak problem that was just an incorrect oil plug seal, they also changed my oil and sent me on my way for only $75 with the CAM being a repair that would be needed later for $300. Needless to say I will never go back to Carousel again. More
