Car sold over phone while I was enroute with certified check Had been negotiating by phone and text for two days on a pre-owned Tiguan. While enroute 90 miles to purchase with certified check in hand, got a call Had been negotiating by phone and text for two days on a pre-owned Tiguan. While enroute 90 miles to purchase with certified check in hand, got a call that another rep had undermined the negotiation and taken a deposit over the phone. I continued on to the dealership to discuss unprofessional handling of this "supposed" sale (car has still not been picked up) since they did not even give a courtesy call to say another person was interested. Had they done so, I would have made a deposit over the phone immediately to hold until I could complete my drive to Lakeland. When I arrived, Ken at dealership refused to consider the fact the my inquiries about the car had preceeded the phone sale, and instead had a rep offer another older Tiguan with fewer amenities and much higher mileage...which I declined. Interestingly, next day the internet sales rep called back to see if I was still interested even though it had apparently been sold prior day. And, 5 days later the car is still listed for sale on Audi Lakeland's website as well as CarGuru etc. Bait and switch perhaps as they try to unload the older Tiguan? Very unethical. More
