20k service on Q5 Service was as expected. Scheduling was simple. Completed on time and they washed the exterior of the car. Transmission flush was recommended at the 2 Service was as expected. Exceedingly long and not completed correctly. In the past our experience with Audi has been fantastic this time was the exception and it was terrible. Brought vehicle in for an oil change. After In the past our experience with Audi has been fantastic this time was the exception and it was terrible. Brought vehicle in for an oil change. After waiting for more than two hours a service person brought me pictures of my air filter and cabin filter. I told them I was fine with their current condition and waited another 30 minutes. 2.5 hour oil change is unreasonable to start with but that is when the fun really started. We were about to embark on a long family trip which is what prompted the service. 3 hours into our trip the oil light went on. It was 10:30pm and fortunately there was a service station where we could get oil. First thing the following morning we called Audi service and were told "our oil gun is off once you add oil you will be fine". Fortunately I wasn't convinced so I made an appointment with an Audi dealer near where I was. The Audi dealer was extremely accommodating and discovered a "crush valve" had not been replaced and I had a significant oil leak. The "other dealer" cleaned the leaked oil, which extended back to the tail pipe, replaced the "crush valve" and changed the oil. Audi of Des Moines did finally call after I had already paid the bill at the "other dealer". They were apologetic about the event but all they really offered was to pay for the second oil change and for the oil I purchased at the service station. No apology for a lost morning on vacation and no offer for a guarantee or discount on future service. Had we listened to the service department and not insisted on getting it looked at we would have ended up stranded more that 200 miles from the closest Audi dealer with the possibility of ruining an engine in a $70,000 vehicle. We accept that service and parts on an Audi cost a little more but that should come with significantly better service. I was also told on this visit that there were 5 recalls on our vehicle but "they didn't have time" to do anything about it and that we would have to schedule another visit. Incidentally I am not a regular customer of the dealership I visited while on the road. They called me on a Sunday to make sure the service I received was acceptable. More
