We paid top pric We recently bought a Audi Certified Pre Owned 2021 Q7 from Audi Colorado Springs (aka Phil Long Audi) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We paid top price, based on Kelley Blue Book. The salesperson presented the vehicle as being in excellent condition, hence warranting the top price that was asked and which is what we paid. However, 20 minutes after driving the vehicle off the dealer’s lot following its purchase a week later, we discovered a significant flaw. The windshield had been chipped and superficially repaired. How can one present the car as being in “excellent” condition, when the windshield was not in excellent condition? The proper repair in order to warrant its excellent condition assessment would have been to replace the windshield, at an expense of $2,000. Instead, a $250 "Safelite" repair of the chip was done. I test drove the Q7 at dusk and didn't see the repaired chip due to low light conditions. The vehicle was purported to be in excellent condition, yet no mention was made of the repaired windshield chip by the salesperson. Why is that? Perhaps, that's because that would jeopardize its excellent rating and top price? That is my gripe. While there are some minor scratches, that is normal wear and tear that would not jeopardize its excellent rating. However, the quick-fix repair of the damaged windshield chip jeopardizes its “excellent” rating. Audi’s own website boasts that “Certified Pre-Owned” vehicles have to pass a detailed inspection that ensures that each vehicle meets their highest standards! I find it hard to believe that a chipped windshield that received a “quick-fix” repair, instead of a windshield replacement, would meet their “highest standards” platitude, especially when the vehicle was presented as being in “excellent” condition! I alerted the salesperson the next day following the purchase about the repaired chipped windshield. He acknowledged that they opted to “not ding the previous owner at trade in for the $2,000 cost to replace the windshield!” But that was a business decision, as that customer was looking to buy a brand new vehicle from the same dealer. So, he indirectly acknowledged that the car's value merited a $2,000 deduction from its Kelley Blue Book top price! I was told that it was not the responsibility of the dealership to point out every “minor” flaw of the used car. I would not consider a repair that would require an expenditure of $2,000 to do it right to merit its “excellent” condition rating, a “minor” flaw. Moreover, to add insult to injury, the dealer offered a lowball trade-in price for our 2017 Acura MDX. The $17,000 that was offered was an insult. I ultimately sold our vehicle to CarMax for $24,000! So, not only did the dealer want top dollar for the flawed Q7, but they also wanted to see a windfall from the trade in of our vehicle! After alerting the salesperson of the windshield flaw and my dissatisfaction, I was told by the Sales Manager that I could expect a call from the General Manager the following business day. I did not hear from the GM until three days later—via email! He concluded in his email that my dissatisfaction did not merit any action. “Just glancing at the deal, I am feeling confident that ___ and my management team did what they could, based off of Audi’s expectations and guidelines.” He closed by saying that I could call his personal assistant if I wished to discuss the matter—not him! Needless to say, I will not be returning to Audi Colorado Springs Audi and recommend that you do the same! More
I had a recall and did not need my car for a couple of days so I let them know there was no hurry. When I picked up my car it had been detailed inside and out. Was greatly appreciated.
