I myself, had a very troubling experience with Atlantic Honda in September of this year. Here are some of the highlights of what had transpired: "Senior" sales consultant, Larry Ellis, & sales manager, Rich Lobraico, dared to try and REALLY pressure me into buying a car I was interested in. It was a black 2008 Honda CRV EX-L. They were beyond condescending and downright rude, and this is coming from a person who is very understanding and never writes negative reviews. When I first sat down, I told Mr. Ellis that I'm wary of car dealerships, as I had just come from a couple of untrustworthy dealers. I thought he would be understanding of my concern. Well, was I wrong! Mr. Ellis went as far as telling me that statistically, car buyers take much less time to buy a car than the time I've spent to find one. It was more of a criticism really, especially since he never stopped harping on it. First of all, why should I care? How is it even any of his business? It's quite apparent that he was pushing me to leave with a car that day. I had spent only a week and a half looking at cars online and just a few days physically going down to dealerships prior to coming to Atlantic Honda. Does that seem like an excessive amount of time to look for a car, a car which I do not need right away since I still have my current car to drive? Throughout the one and a half to two hours I was there, Mr. Ellis kept emphasizing that I should go with a certified pre-owned car, instead of one that was not certified. I explained to him over and over again, that I did not need to spend a couple of thousand more for a certified car, as my close friend is a great mechanic. He would NOT stop badgering me on how that was an unwise decision, completely ignoring my wishes. I had told him that I was not interested in a car with a back-up camera. I find that people who rely only on a back-up camera are more likely to get into an accident or run over somebody than looking behind themselves. He even tried using scare tactics by "scolding" me, telling me that I could very well run over a small child without a back-up camera! I know this sounds unbelievable, but this came straight out of his mouth. He was really pressuring me to buy that car that night, though he never told me what he would sell the car for. We were just going round in circles. I should have gotten up and left immediately but at the time, I was still thinking of buying the car, even though I didn't really trust him or Mr. Lobraico. He actually asked me several times why it is that I did not trust him? Is it just me or isn't that just simply unprofessional? Besides, after I prefaced our conversation with the bad experiences I had, you'd think he'd understand why. I told him that I needed to think about buying it, that I wouldn't just buy it the moment I saw it and that I never make big purchases right away. So, after spending all of that time there, I left it with him that there was another car I was interested in at a different dealership and that I would come back to test drive the car the next day, after I've looked at the other car, or if I decided on the other car, I'd let him know. (Which is more than he deserved from me.) After I fell in love with the other car at the other dealership, a dealership that treated me with the respect I deserved, I called Mr. Ellis. He called me out, saying I lied to him about buying a car right away because that is what I had just done. How dare he?! He was so very angry with me; he acted as if I had bruised his ego, or like a little child who didn't get his way. He then said he'd match the price if I came back to "do business" with him. Well, those words basically summed up what he's all about. I wasn't looking to "do business." I was looking for a trustworthy person looking out for my best interest, not a sleazy car salesman. More
Don't buy a Honda anywhere else I've bought a lot of cars in my lifetime. I have to say this is the very best dealership I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I was greeted with a great big smile from every employee I made eye contact with upon entering the dealership. The atmosphere here makes it very clear these guys and gals aren't just coworkers, they're a work family, it made the shopping experience better for me. After approaching the podium, sales manager Rob Kiernan immediately made sure I was partnered up with a rock star product expert, John Marshall. John was very informative and relatable, making sure I got all the information I wanted (I ask a LOT of questions) and he did it all with a fantastic attitude. I could tell he was very knowledgeable, genuinely happy to help me and enjoys what he does. Again, this is important to me because I don't buy anything unless I feel good about the purchase. After John helped me pick out a car, sales manager Brianna Ray helped me decide the best way to make the purchase happen. Again, the multitude of questions I asked were all answered directly, no sales jargon, no frustration, and with a wonderful attitude! We decided that I was going to be trading in my old car. Initially I had no intention of doing this because I had an idea in my head that a car dealership's job is to lowball you as much as possible in order to make more money on the trade-in. Then she gave me the appraisal number and I couldn't say no. They gave me an awesome deal on my old car. In the final stretch it was Yves Olivier who made everything come together. My credit score is great on Credit Karma but it doesn't show me Experian, which is what most dealerships use. There are some erroneous collections from old properties on my Experian report that I didn't even know were there. Yves went to bat for me and got me an exception to make the deal happen, also going above and beyond to show me the discrepancies on the report so I can go get that fixed now too. The daunting mountain of paperwork I had to sign was made much less scary by his calm, cool, friendly demeanor. He explained every single page to me to my complete satisfaction. I left with no questions unanswered, very comfortable and very happy. After everything was done, the GM of the dealership, Ricky Alessi, came over and personally thanked me for my business and shook my hand with a big smile. Easiest car shopping experience I was looking for 2016 Pilot and after going to 4 dealerships and getting nowhere, I was very frustrated. Then, a coworker recommended Joey Naim and I was looking for 2016 Pilot and after going to 4 dealerships and getting nowhere, I was very frustrated. Then, a coworker recommended Joey Naim and told me he's the man to see. Boy, was he right!!! Joey was very friendly honest and most importantly, patient. He gave me the details and price for 2 different styles and there was never any pressure for me to buy. No manager coming over to pitch me a sale!!! He let me sleep on it and the next day, I got my new Pilot Touring and I'm loving it!!! I've bought 3 Hondas from 3 different dealers before Joey but from now on, Joey will be the man to see!!! More
