!!!DON"T BUY FROM HERE-Lies,Deception,Bad Inspections This was my 1st and last experience at Arnie Bauer. Their way of doing business is that they can do and say what they want with no fear of repercussio This was my 1st and last experience at Arnie Bauer. Their way of doing business is that they can do and say what they want with no fear of repercussions because it's accepted there from the top to the bottom. Selling vehicles is all that matters. This dealership is the reason why people think so poorly of car salesmen and dread the buying process. I have been lied to numerous times by the following people at Arnie Bauer: Salesman- Antoine Willis, General Manager- Brett Pechtold, and Owner- Darrin Bauer. Just don't buy anything from here because they will get you any way they can. Also, you will see this on their website..*At Arnie Bauer You Can't Buy the Wrong Car! - We are the only dealership around to offer a 72 hour vehicle exchange policy!! They don't honor it at all so again, please don't get fooled and stuck in a bad situation like i did. Below is my experience for over 3 weeks with these guys. Something told me to keep track of everything-so i did. I test drove the 2015 GMC Sierra Friday April 21st I spoke with Antoine throughout the following week Thursday the 27th we agreed on a purchase price on the phone and I let him know we would be up there to sign tomorrow night after I got off work. He said ok great. I text him a few minutes later to see if he could find out from finance dept. what the best rate they can get on a 72 month loan for $23k with excellent credit. He text back same day at 2:58pm saying use 3% to be safe, maybe less when we put the deal together. We got to the dealership Friday night the 28th around 6pm to find out Antoine had left for the day. DJ said he could take care of us so we sat with him but he couldn’t pull up anything about the deal. We went back and forth over my trade-in and after the 3rd time of him going to talk to Angela, I believe, he said the $14,500 is the most they can do, not $15,000. So I said ok thanks for your time and we headed home around 830. The next morning at 930 DJ is sending me texts and left a voicemail saying “I got them to do the deal you wanted. They will give you the $15k for your car. We were out of town that day but I text DJ back at 5pm to let him know I would be in on Monday to sign the paperwork. At 6pm I get a call from Antoine confirming I would be in Monday to sign. I let him know I would and asked if he could have his finance guy call me Monday so I could get some of the loan process going. He assured me he would. So on Monday may 1st, I never got a call from anyone at the dealership until 7:20pm. It was Antoine asking if I was still coming up to get the truck. I told him he said he was going to have his finance guy call me because I couldn’t spend a ton of time up there that night. He said “oh that’s right but I was so busy today. I had like 8-10 customers and forgot”. He took my info over the phone for the application and said he would call me right back. I told him to let me know what the best rate they can get is, didn’t want my credit ran a bunch and to text me a picture of the bill of sale. He called me back at 840 saying he got the approval and I said at what rate. He told me 3.9%. I said you told me it would be no more than 3% on 27th. He said that’s the best I can do. I told him I would think about it and talk it over with wife and let him know. On 8:47 he called back but I missed the call. He then text me at 9pm saying just got a rate adjustment at 3.3% from us bank. Tuesday May 2 I came up there to sign paperwork and took truck home. The truck didn’t have as much power as we wanted so i called Antoine Wednesday, may 3 around 6pm to see what we could do. He told me that the dealership is getting 40 used vehicles in tomorrow. To give them time to get them on the website and bring truck back Friday. He said we want to make you happy so we will figure it out. On Thursday may 4 at 545pm I text Antoine to remind him I would be bringing truck back tomorrow. And asked if we were still good to meet when I get there after I get off work or do I need to see someone else? Friday may 5 he text back asking what time do you want to come in? I text him back saying I would be up after I get off work at 5pm. He text “get here as soon as you can”. We got up there around 630pm that night and talked to him and I let him know I’m looking for more power, he said v8 I said yeah. Then he said ok, we will find you something, we want you to be happy. He also said, your car already sold too, which I thought was weird since I never brought up my car and I had just seen my car on the website the day before. It hadn’t sold. We saw it on the lot. He let us test drive a 2015 ford f150 v8 for the night to see if that would be something we would want. Saturday may 6th my wife and I brought the truck back up around 330pm and met with Antoine and let him know the ford wasn’t something we wanted to since it had such a small bed in the back among some cosmetic issues too. He asked what else I saw there, I told him there isn’t anything else there in price range. Could I get my car back and wait until they get something that will work for us. He said it s sold. I told him it wasn’t, it was right there on the lot. He said oh I thought it was. So then he says he can’t make that decision and goes and brings Brett over. Brett proceeds to tell us that they don’t ever, in his 30 years, take a car back. He says it’s just not possible, we’ve already paid off your car, and U.S. Bank already funded. My car didn’t get paid off until Thursday may 11. Brett says, “what I can do is look for what you want and still give you you’re the difference in your trade-in ($5686) plus what you already put as down payment ($3576) towards another vehicle here.” He then wrote down what type of truck I was looking for-blue, v8, sierra 1500. He shook our hands and said “I don’t have to make a penny on this vehicle, I just want you guys happy”. He also said he looked up on the computer a 2015 blue sierra 1500 v8 they could get on Monday before it goes to auction. I told him that would be good and asked Antoine to send me pictures of it. We then left. On Monday the 8th, I text Antoine at 330 asking what status of truck search was. He called me at 530 saying “we just got this Sierra Denali in and you are gonna love it Kyle. It’s white diamond. Looks sharp. It has the V8 and is a 6.2 (it’s not, it’s a 5.3), this thing is loaded. I asked how much and he said $34k, I said that’s a little high from where I’m at now. He said but its top of the line, you should come up and look a t it. I let him know I could do that tomorrow since I have the day off. He said he was off Tuesday as well but would come in since he lives near dealership. I asked him to send me a couple pictures of it and I will talk it over with the wife. At 630pm he text me a video of him describing it to me as he showed me the inside and out of it. The next day, Tuesday may 9th I text Antoine at 1040 letting him know I wanted to come look at/test drive the Denali and could be there around noon. He called me at 11:40 as I was about to leave town saying, they were supposed to do the inspection last night but not sure why they didn’t. it’s getting serviced now. I said ok, let me know when it’s ready. He said he would. I emailed Brett at 8:00 pm asking how the search for the blue GMC was going since I never heard from him regarding the one they were getting from the pre-auction. Never got a response from Brett. He called me on Wednesday the 10th and asked when I would be able to come up to look at the Denali. I told him I could do it tomorrow after work. He said ok. Thursday may 11th, I text Antoine at 1225 letting him know we would be up there to look at/test drive Denali. He text back ok. At 1pm I get a call from Antoine saying, the truck is in the air getting serviced as we speak but they really don’t want to get rid of this truck. They are putting new tires and brakes on it now but that’s gonna make the price go up. I said, if you had this truck for me and have been hassling me to come drive it, and told me I could have it for $34k, why would you try to tell me they are doing work to it to make the price higher? He said well are you gonna take care of the tires and brakes? I said yes. He said ok, I’m gonna scarf down this sandwich real quick and have Brett call you. I said ok. I never got a call from Brett so I headed up to dealership around 6 and my buddy met me up there so he could take a look at truck with me. Antoine gives me keys to Denali and I walk out to look at it with my buddy. A few minutes later Antoine comes out and starts talking about the truck and how nice it is and says to me,” Kyle I’ve always shot you straight, this is a good vehicle. It’s a 1-owner who bought it here and had it serviced here.” I said it wasn’t bought here, it’s from Rizza Ford in Orland Park. He says oh, well I always see the guy here so I figured he got it here. After I looked at it more I went inside and sat with Antoine who tells me they don’t want to sell it me for $34k. I asked why and he said he didn’t know. I said then why did you tell me that and have me come all the way up here again, my 7th trip. Where did you get that 34k figure from? He said he and Brett talked and that’s what was said. Antoine then has the nerve to say, “I feel like I’m in the middle of this. Why don’t you go in there and tell him you want it for $34k. I go into Brett’s office with Antoine and the first thing he says is “I can’t sell you that car for $34k”. I said but you told me you didn’t need to make another penny off me, isn’t that right? He said “yes, but I don’t have to do it on this vehicle.” I said I know you didn’t give more than $34k for it on trade. He confirmed he paid $34k for it. I said what’s the issue? I was told 1 price and you have it listed for $36,500 a day or two before I come up here. I told him I’ve been lied to by Antoine numerous times over the last few weeks and don’t know what to believe anymore. He said well Antoine’s not authorized to offer that price.” I said Antoine told me that you guys discussed this and that was the number. He then just stared at Antoine. Brett says if I did the $34k I would have to add the other amount on the loan you have already. I told him I was going to pay the $3500 difference out of pocket. He then says, “and your prepared to do that tonight?” I told him yes. Then he says to me, “I don’t think this is the right truck for you”. He’s now telling me he knows what’s best for me which was pretty rude. This seemed to be like a game to him. I left after that and on my way home decided to leave Darrin Bauer a message asking him to contact me regarding the numerous issues over the past 3 weeks. On Saturday, May 13th at 1:25 p.m. Darrin Bauer left me a message saying he was returning my call and that he would be leaving for the day in a bit but would be in on Monday at 9:00 a.m. I called back at 2:30 p.m. and he had already left. Monday May 15th Darrin Bauer called me at 11:18 a.m. and I went over everything that has been going on with Antoine and Brett over the past 3 weeks. He told me he heard pretty much the same story from them but mine was more detailed. He also told me that Antoine can’t stop a vehicle from getting serviced, that EVERY vehicle that comes in has to be serviced in order to be sure the dealership is sending out a safe product on the road. He asked me what type of truck I was looking for and I let him know I want a Crew Cab with a V8. The 22 minute conversation ended with Darrin saying he will get more details from the guys and get back to me. On Thursday May 18th I saw a 2014 GMC 1500 SLT V8 online for $31,775. This was a year older than mine and had 45k more miles than mine. I went up after work at around 5:30 p.m. to look and drive it. I did call Darrin on my way up but had to leave him a message to see if he had any more information regarding my situation. When I got to the dealership, I test drove the truck with Norm Mitchell. He had me go back inside with him and he asked what I thought of the truck. I told him it had the power I was looking for. He left for a minute to talk to Brett and Angela I think and when he came back he said it was going to be about $2k more. I let him know Brett had told me that he didn’t need to make another penny off of me so we should be able to swap out vehicles. I also, told him I had let Darrin Bauer know this too. Norm said ok, but I’m just telling me what they said. I told him I was waiting to hear from Darrin and would get back to him. He gave me his card and told me to call him. Saturday May 20th at 12:45 p.m. I called Norm who said he was finishing up with a customer but would call me right back and let me know if vehicle had been serviced and cleaned yet. At 1:36 p.m. Darrin Bauer called me and said he had heard I came and test drove another truck. I told him yes and that Norm was going to let me know when it was done being cleaned and serviced. He said “well we don’t need to service that one, so we could probably have it for you Monday”. I asked him how they would be doing the paperwork since I have an existing loan through U.S. Bank. He said he wasn’t sure but would find out. I did tell me he didn’t know too much about the truck I test drove but heard it was going to be $2k more for me to pay. I reminded him of his General Manager’s comment to my wife and I on Saturday May 6th about not having to make a penny on the next vehicle I find. Darrin said he knew that and will try to get details for me. Norm had called me from his cell phone while I was talking to Darrin so at 1:42 p.m. I called him back and he said the 2014 Sierra had not been serviced or cleaned yet but he could have them get to it soon so I could get it on Monday the 20th. He told me he’d call me when it’s ready. At 1:01 p.m. on Monday May 22nd, Norm left me a voicemail saying the truck wasn’t ready yet but will definitely be done by tomorrow. He will call me tomorrow. Tuesday May 23rd I received a call from Norm at 11:30 a.m. saying the truck is all set to go. I asked him to find out what paperwork I will need to sign and to try and have it ready by the time I get up there around 6 p.m. He said he would look into and then he mentioned that I needed to bring $2k since that was the difference. I told him that was not what deal was and that I wanted to speak with Darrin Bauer. Norm said he didn’t know his extension and did I want him to transfer me to the operator who could get me to Darrin. I left a message for Darrin letting him know how unimpressed I am with his staff and the fact that I’ve been trying to get this exchange done for a couple weeks now. I also said that I tried reaching out to him in hopes he could resolve this but nothing has been fixed. I have made numerous attempts to rectify this the right way but it seems that, for the most part, this behavior is demonstrated and accepted by all levels of the staff at Arnie Bauer. It’s unfortunate because I am in finance and have been doing vehicle loans for 15 years and would never wish any of my customers this type of deceptive/fraudulent treatment. The next step up the ladder is the Better Business Bureau where formal complaint will be filed and then the Attorney General. I will also be posting these detailed incidents all over social media and leaving my review on the following website: Facebook, Twitter, Edmunds, DealerRater, Consumer Affairs, CarFolks, CarDealerCheck, Cars.com, SureCritic, Snap21, Yelp, Google+. This was the most ridiculous and rude thing I've ever been told at a dealership. I continued like I was going to come back and purchase and told the salesmen I would be back tomorrow. After I left I sent the general manager an email about the horrible comment and told him because of the rude comment I would not be purchasing the vehicle. I really wanted the car too so I will have to find it elsewhere. More

I did some research online and saw that this dealership had a nice inventory of seemingly well priced vehicles with the features I was looking for. We decided to make the 2-1/2 hour drive on Interstate 80 from our home to this dealership to check out these vehicles. I called the dealership to let them know we were coming. My car ran perfectly on the trip to the dealership. When we arrived we were greeted by the salesman and told the first item of business was to appraise my car. He introduced us to the person who would take it for a test drive and I cheerfully handed over the keys. About 5 minutes later the person returned to tell me that my vehicle had no "power" and they were going to put it up on the rack to check out any problems. I told them it had performed perfectly on the busy interstate highway during our trip to the dealership, and I was not concerned that they would find any problems. I take good care of my car and had just had it at my local dealership for servicing the week before. In addition it had been appraised by two other dealers that week when I had looked at vehicles at my local dealerships and they offered me book price on it as a trade-in. Our salesman then took us for a test drive in one of the vehicles I was interested in.. When we returned to the office, I was told that the engine on my car was "blown" and that it was not drivable. I was completely shocked and of course very upset as now we were so far from home and with no way to get back home. Could it be possible that my car would suddenly develop such serious mechanical problems immediately upon arriving at the dealership when there had been no hint of any problems during the drive there? I ended up purchasing one of their vehicles and taking a huge hit on the value of my car. Was I saved from being stranded on the side of a busy highway, or was I scammed? Unfortunately I will never know for sure. My advice: avoid this dealership! If you do chance doing business with them, do not let them take your car for evaluation without you with them. I am a 71 year old lady but apparently not too old to learn yet another lesson. More
