I've honestly had bad experiences all around with dealers and I had chills running down my spine at the though of having to go car hunting again after my previous car was totaled in an accident. Whe dealers and I had chills running down my spine at the though of having to go car hunting again after my previous car was totaled in an accident. When I first got in I was greeted the same way as I am at any other dealer, but I never fall under impressions anymore until we start dealing with the physical condition of the car, the price, etc. I came in looking for a 2012 Chevy Impala LT. I saw the condition of the car and the price and we were able to come to a fair agreement on the price. My experience there felt as though they were really trying to help me and not just push extra things that cost money for no reason. As long as you're fair, then they will be fair. Gabe was a great help in reassuring me that they wouldn't sell me a bad car (which is a huge fear of mine in car shopping. As I'm sure it is with everyone else). I truly believe from my experience here that they were trying to help me, and not just sell me a car. More
My experience with purchasing a 2013 GMC Acadia from Sullivan Buick/GMC was awesome. I was currently driving a 2011 GMC Acadia with front wheel drive, which I purchased from them in 2011. Living in Ill Sullivan Buick/GMC was awesome. I was currently driving a 2011 GMC Acadia with front wheel drive, which I purchased from them in 2011. Living in Illinois with the snow/rain and crazy weather we have I thought it was time to upgrade to an AWD SUV. I contacted my original Sales Consultant Geoff Sulkowski. Within an hour Geoff had many vehicles to choose from in my price range and monthly payments equal to my 2011 Acadia. Now that’s what I call SERVICE! Having to get my 2011 Acadia’s oil changed I went to the dealer the next day to meet with Geoff. Geoff had me test drive a 2013 Acadia with AWD. He went over every new feature and had me go thru wet spots and try to make the tires spin. The AWD took over seamlessly and I could not spin the tires. Next we went over the color choices and found the perfect vehicle in Chicago. Geoff went personally the next day and brought back the vehicle. I never was charged for the oil change. I went back to the dealer 2 days later to see my new 2013 Acadia. The service department had it all shined up and looking awesome! Geoff went thru the vehicle with me to show all the new features and answered every question and added all his car knowledge. Geoff even noticed the luggage rack from my old SUV would fit on the new one and had the service dept install it on my new SUV. The finance dept was fast and efficient. Within 2 hours I was ready to take my new ride home! Thanks Sullivan Buick/GMC for your service! David Petersen More
Just wanted to share my experience at Sullivan Buick GMC. I bought a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT here in mid October 2012 as a certified pre owned car. Mind you, I paid a premium for the car because of its "certified I bought a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT here in mid October 2012 as a certified pre owned car. Mind you, I paid a premium for the car because of its "certified pre owned" status. If fact, several thousand more than if I would have bought one non certified from another dealer with same mileage, options, etc. Anyway, I put certified pre owned in quotes because I believe that this car should not have been certified. I have bought a couple GM certified cars from other GM dealers in the past and never had any immediate problems with them, so I was confident that my next would be the same. Not the case! I bought this G8 at night in the rain (probably my first mistake, besides stepping foot on their lot in the first place), but I figured that all things on the car would have been taken care of since it was a certified car that goes through their 400 million zillion point inspection. Therefore, I didn't look at every little thing on the car. Again, not the case. The very next day in the daylight, I discovered several outside trim pieces discoloring and faded, wheels that were spray painted instead of machined properly, leather on the steering wheel coming off, rubber trim on the outside seals dry rotted, and some others that I am probably forgetting. Needless to say, I immediately contacted the dealer to have these issues resolved. They got me right in and even set me up with a rental, but found out that these cosmetic issues were submitted and paid for by warranty by GM. They should have been fixed before putting the car out on the lot as a certified car. My guess is that they were too cheap to fix these items and were hoping someone would not notice. You see, the car was out of factory warranty, so they would have to pay out of pocket to fix these items, which were checked off on my inspection checklist as "OK". I did notice these problems though, and they were able to have warranty fix them since my car now had the extended GM warranty (cpo warranty). This is insurance fraud, and my first glimpse of how this dealer works. Fast forward a few months. I got a flat tire from a nail. I brought the car to another dealer by my work and was told both front tires had screws in them but needed to be replaced because of the location of the nails. The dealer submitted the claim to the tire warranty company (remember the tire warranty I bought from them), and soon found out that no tire claims could be honored due to the tires being excessively dry rotted and unsafe. I was shocked and contacted Sullivan to find out why I was sold a certified car with bad, unsafe tires and what they can do to fix the problem. I was given the run around and promised call backs to let me know what they can do to fix the situation. Eventually, after several days of having to call them repeatedly, Dan in finance (who is apparently the head guy over there for this sort of thing) tells me that they can cancel my tire warranty but that is all they can do. I was shocked and furious. They sold me a car as certified, and even THEIR own tire warranty, and now I am expected to pay out of pocket for tires? This is exactly why I bought the warranty, so I would not have unexpected costs. It's like an insurance company selling you a policy but declining to pay for an accident and simply offering to refund your premiums, but leaving you with a wrecked car. Very unethical. Its as if they play the odds that the customer will not call them out on their mistakes. The fact is that all of the tires are unsafe, and should have been replaced before the Certified sticker got put on the windshield. Dan actually told me that "the car is almost 4 years old and the tires should be at the end of their life anyway, so the tires are on you". Really? This is his response? Shouldn't this be the reason why they replace things like this in the reconditioning process of certifying the cars? This dealer needs to either inspect their cars better or actually recondition them to GM standards. What they are doing is wrong. They need to step up and fix their mistakes, even if it means less profit on this car. I paid the premium for a certified car, but did not receive certified quality. I have since contacted GM customer service and they are looking into the situation for me. Hopefully they can talk some sense into these guys. More
The individuals my husband worked with were very knowledgeable and efficient. I am SO impressed with how clean my used car is, and I am very picky. Their detail work is excellent. I was looking for a used car to replace my minivan that I bought at Sullivan in 2010. I have credit problems and I dreaded having to go to a dealership and deal with a long wait. After sending an online in bought at Sullivan in 2010. I have credit problems and I dreaded having to go to a dealership and deal with a long wait. After sending an online inquiry, I was contacted quickly by Mark. He took all of my information, and I was able to choose the vehicles I was most interested in via the website. I made an appointment to meet with Mark the next afternoon. When I arrived at the dealership, my loan was already approved. All I had to do was test drive the vehicles I liked and choose one. Once I picked the one I wanted, Gary worked his magic and got me a payment I was happy with. Both Mark and Gary were totally professional, friendly and kind to me and my husband. I have had bad experiences with car dealers in the past who didn't want to deal with my credit problems, and it was great to work with Mark and Gary. Although I was just buying a used vehicle, they made me feel like I was just as valuable as someone who was buying a brand new Ferrari! This was the 2nd car I purchased at this dealership, and I couldn't be more pleased. I am strongly considering returning to Sullivan in the near future to trade in my other car. I highly recommend this dealer! Thank you Mark and Gary! More
