Unnecessary service charges and talked down to a woman. I am appalled by the service received at Apple Honda in Riverhead, NY. As a part of a visit to get an inspection and “Autobutler” service my wife ask I am appalled by the service received at Apple Honda in Riverhead, NY. As a part of a visit to get an inspection and “Autobutler” service my wife asked to have a tire looked at due to a low-pressure indicator appearing on the dash. After the technician looked at vehicle, the service advisor Michael Guarino informed my wife that the tire was missing the tire sensor. This was odd to me being that I witnessed (and have receipt for) a local tire shop recently changing the tire sensor due to the old one leaking air. After speaking with my wife, I called Mr. Guarino to inquire more about the tire sensor. He stated that the tire did not have a tire sensor, in his professional experience has never seen a tire sensor with a rubber stem meaning that there was no sensor in the tire (a clearly incorrect statement). I agreed to the sensor being changed, thinking that the message from the service tech must have been misunderstood by Mr. Guarino and that air must have been leaking from the stem/sensor. 4 days (and less than 30 miles of driving) after paying $181.94 (plus tax) the tire pressure light came back on and my wife returned to Apple Honda. A nail was found in the tire which Mr. Guarino had removed, however speaking down to and being rude to my wife the entire time. After expressing that she was upset with the charge for the sensor, he arrogantly explained that tires rotate many times, the nail must have been picked up after the service and the charge was not going to be refunded. The unnecessary service and charge were bad enough, but the manner Mr. Guarino treated and spoke to my wife was unacceptable. As a man, I wonder if I went and had dealt with Mr. Guarino if he would have treated me in the same way? As a loyal Honda owner, I have no desire to find out. I will simply take my future business elsewhere. More
