There seems to be somewhat of a disconnect between the Ford Accessories ordering process online and the service department on-site to do the work. Firstly, I wasn't able to schedule the install for rough Ford Accessories ordering process online and the service department on-site to do the work. Firstly, I wasn't able to schedule the install for roughly 2 weeks after I ordered the part and when I called in to do so the first time I was just told to "wait a while and call back in so we can receive the order", that's not a great customer experience and to not offer any kind of proactive follow up for an item and service I paid well over $1000 for seems a little careless. Once I did get scheduled, I was contacted a couple days before my appointment informing me that my appointment was cancelled because the item wasn't in stock yet. The very next day, I was contacted again saying the part had arrived and they could proceed with the install as originally scheduled, a clunky experience at best. Once I arrived for the appointment, the duration of the work was underestimated by the staff at the outset of the job and then somewhat poorly managed as it went on throughout the day. Originally told it would be a 1-hour install, Kaley came to me shortly later and said they now thought it would be a 2 hour job. Once that 2 hours came and went, I gave it another 30 minutes and then had to go find her to get an update on the status of my vehicle as I needed to get to work. I was then told it would be done "Soon" and "We're doing everything we can" but not given any specific information beyond that. Roughly another 30 minutes later, Kaley came to me and informed me they were having a lot of trouble getting the item installed and offered me a loaner so I could get to work finally. I took this because they offered to bring my truck to me once the work was completed and do a swap with them taking the loaner vehicle back with them. Altogether, it ended up being about 7 hours before the work was completed. Lastly, they gave the delivery person the wrong address so he showed up somewhere else and took an additional 30 minutes to finally get to my house. Not his fault, he was courteous about the mixup and took a few minutes to show me how the new unit worked now that it was installed. However, he didn't really know how to use the item properly and upon looking at the one-sheet instructions that he did have I learned he missed a critical step when attempting to show me how it works. Looking more closely at the instructions, I believe it's 2 pages to a greater user-manual that I didn't receive from them that might contain useful information. I'll look it up on my own, but it seems for the investment I made, I should just get it automatically. Altogether, not a smooth experience at all. It would be a 1-star rating if Kaley hadn't proactively offered me the loaner with pick-up service but that was a valuable add-on once it became evident that the work was going to take substantially longer than expected. However, if they'd known what they were getting into up front, I could have used that same loaner sooner and avoided having to sit in the waiting room for 3 hours-plus trying to do what work I could on my laptop. I also don't like that once the extended timeframe was 30 minutes past-due I had to go seek someone out for more information vs. being kept informed throughout. More
