The sales staff was professional and friendly. This is my first purchase from Antwerpen Volkswagen and I plan on coming back when my current lease is over. Great place to send friends and family! Salesman and management were very professional and went to extremes to complete the deal to my satisfaction. NO B.S. I plan to tell my friends and family about the great cars at Volkswagen. I am also going to extremes to complete the deal to my satisfaction. NO B.S. I plan to tell my friends and family about the great cars at Volkswagen. I am also going to encourage anyone who is interested to contact this dealership and ask for Ben. This guy knows Volkswagen inside and out. Also of not that I am 53 years old and have owned probably 20 cars in my life and this is the very first time I bought from a MFR outside the US. More
I had such a great experience at Antwerpen. My salesman Donnie was so helpful from step one. He answered all of my questions and still he helps me set up my service appointments. These guys are a joke. Their sales department is shady and their service department is just as bad. As just one example, my car had a defective water pump that started squealing at about 45,000 miles. Eve and their service department is just as bad. As just one example, my car had a defective water pump that started squealing at about 45,000 miles. Even though it was a known issue that affected many VWs, Antwerpen had to keep the car "diagnosing" the problem for nearly 10 days, and I actually had to *make a recording of the squealing noise* and play it for them before the problem was fixed. I asked them to replace the timing belt at the same time, since they were already doing all the necessary labor and since the timing belt was undoubtedly strained by the defective water pump bearing. They refused, even when I offered to pay for the replacement timing belt. There are many other stories I could tell but Antwerpen VW frankly isn't worth the space. Avoid like the plague. More
My family and I have bought 3 vehicles from Antwerpen. All of the service on both of my vehicles was doen by the Antwerpen Service Department. A timing belt they installed failed after 17,000. We started out on the internet and found the car we wanted and the price we wanted to pay. Dealer didn't have color we wanted in stock, but was willing to honor the price. Wanted the color we wanted... wanted and the price we wanted to pay. Dealer didn't have color we wanted in stock, but was willing to honor the price. Wanted the color we wanted...hey, we have to like it from now until we get rid of the car...they'll never think about it again once we leave the dealership. To seal the deal the sales manager said he would 'throw in' a set of door guards. Guess the service dept never got that 'memo' b/c when we showed up for our first service & asked for that to be done, too, they practically called me a liar. Had to walk into the showroom and find the guy that had promised it. Made us feel guilty for the sales guy "having" to go to NJ (on his day off) to pick up what we wanted from another dealer. Excuse me? WE didn't MAKE him do anything. During the HOURS long paperwork phase of the sale (we were paying cash, BTW) tried to sell us every flippin' piece of crap extra under the sun...and REALLY tried not to take no for an answer. We did buy a small extended warranty and service plan that they totally lied to our faces about what it covers. Basically it's prepaying for oil changes & tire rotations for a couple of years...FOR $801??!!?? I specifically asked if it COMPLETELY COVERED major services during that time (30K, 45K) and they said YES. Well it doesn't and now we're stuck. TOTALLY SLIM SHADY AND DISHONEST as far as we're concerned. Since the purchase there are one or two (maybe really only one) service guys that we deal with. The rest are awful. Plus the waiting room is filthy and there is nowhere for kids to play. NEVER AGAIN! will we buy ANYTHING from this dealer and you shouldn't either. SAVE YOURSELVES!! RUN AWAY!! FAR AWAY!! More
I ask for a specific equipment. The car was deliver without it and the dealer refuse to install it for free even if I specificly ask for it before buying the car. The sale person denied everything. About 2 1/2 weeks ago I took my car to the dealer to have a cracked coolant hose replaced and at that time I was getting roughly 29-30 mpg. So they replaced the hose and a couple of days later I got gas, and a cracked coolant hose replaced and at that time I was getting roughly 29-30 mpg. So they replaced the hose and a couple of days later I got gas, and since that day I have noticed I have been getting way worse gas mileage. Then last Sunday my CEL came on and it ended up being a cooling system code (P2181). So I took it to the dealership and they stated that it was my engine coolant temp sensor. I had that replaced also. Now when I drive I don't even get close to the gas mileage I was having before. I used to go around 330 miles on a full tank of gas, now i'm filling up around 290. What could be the cause of all of this? I just don't get how my car could have a cracked coolant hose and be low on coolant getting g-r-e-a-t gas mileage, then fixing the problem and thigs go south. What is your insight to this situation. I am now out $600 from the repairs. More
I purchased a used VW from Antwerpen prior to my move to Hawaii. They sold me a $900 anti-theft product that doesn't work here. Prior to purchase, I specifically asked if it worked in Hawaii, and they repli Hawaii. They sold me a $900 anti-theft product that doesn't work here. Prior to purchase, I specifically asked if it worked in Hawaii, and they replied "absolutely". I even tried to cancel the product, prior to installation, but they said I couldn't- too late. A month after I arrived in Hawaii, I found out that the product is completely useless to me. I spoke with the General Manager, Mr. Morris, who told me that he "understood" my frustration, but there was nothing he could do. After 10 minutes of telling Mr. Morris what I feel that they could do for me to remedy the problem and getting shot down, I realized my efforts were useless. I'm working on getting this situation resolved in other ways. I can't believe these crooks can't even own up to their own employee's mistakes!!! What ever happened to "customer satisfaction"? More
Three times in as many months I brought my Passat into Antwerpen (where I purchased it) in an attempt to diagnose and repair a misfire that was so bad it rendered the car undriveable. Granted, the car was Antwerpen (where I purchased it) in an attempt to diagnose and repair a misfire that was so bad it rendered the car undriveable. Granted, the car was not actively misfiring when I brought it in (seemed to only happen at start up during wet/cold weather), but each time I was treated with what could only be described as complete and utter contempt and disbelief. The first two times in the shop, the #2 plug and wire set were cleaned and tightened (first visit) and then replaced (second visit). These first two visits were within days of each other. The third time in, I was basically told (paraphrasing here): "Hey, we can't figure out what it is, and since it could be any one of dozens of things causing the misfire, you're on your own." I asked the service rep if it seemed reasonable that I paid 30K for a car that, although still well within the warranty limits, is virtually undriveable in inclement weather. His response: "We can't fix it if we can't figure out what's wrong with it." UNACCEPTABLE. The customer should not be left holding the bag in situations like this. To top it all off, Antwerpen was apparently incapable of returning my car to me without grease and oil stains all over the seats, carpets/mats, and anything else a person's hands might touch while working on a car. Antwerpen lost both my and my wife's (2002 Golf) business--not that they care--and we are both, or rather were, VW fans who spent a lot of money on Driver Gear and routine maintenance. We now take both cars to another VW dealer out of town. More
