Would I recommend this dealership? I don't know, 3 years ago, this would have been an overwhelming years, today, I am not so sure, and the plaques on the dealership wall probably prove I don't know, 3 years ago, this would have been an overwhelming years, today, I am not so sure, and the plaques on the dealership wall probably proves this, the last time they won the highest rated dealership in any quarter was in 2019. this is now 2024. 02/12/2024, background, I would call myself a loyal Hyundai customer, having owned 2009 Sonata that was totaled in a rear end collision at 130K miles. For my next car, I did not consider any other vehicle maker, I just looked at Hyundai dealerships and purchased a CPO with 20k miles. Fast forward 70K miles later, the car starts burning oil and the sunroof flaps in the wind while driving. I called Hyundai Corporate, yes, your car is under warranty and yes the sun roof has an extended warranty. An appointment is made. I arrived today at the dealership and to my surprise the first service agent I met got into a heated argument about the warranty claim, which he says my car was out of warranty, I keep on telling him to check my VIN, but we kept going back and forth on this, he works in a Hyundai dealership and can not see my service records at other Hyundai dealerships (have always done my service at the dealerships) that I can readily see online. He finally exasperatedly shoves my key to his colleague and says, deal with it. this colleague confirms my car still has a warranty (91k miles), but that it would cost over 500 dollars and 3 different visits to Hyundai to ascertain the issue and fix this problem. The sunroof was checked in the shop, but never taking for a ride, so the flapping in the wind was never noted and the charged me 30 dollars for meddling with it and then telling me it was fine, nothing was wrong with it, without actually taking it out for a test. They promised a ride within 20 miles radius of the dealership, I asked for the ride, they kept on saying, it will be here in 10 minutes, then 30 minutes, and I ended up spending 3 hours in the dealership (should have just taking an Uber or Lyft home). Today was such a nasty experience, I did not even bother talking about a slipping transmission or a sticky steering, just felt like I needed to do the bare minimum and get the xxxx out. After 14 years with Hyundai and convincing family (4 currently) to ditch Toyotas and Hondas and come try a Hyundai, I feel I might have gotten to the end of the road and may be time to just walk away from Hyundai. Mostly because the dealer experience has been below average, wonder if the grass is greener with other manufactures though. . More
