But in the case of Wes Greenway's Alexandria Volkswagen and VW of America Customer Service, I am compelled to take time to share what sets them head & shoulders above - in EVERY DEPARTMENT - all other dealerships and automobile makes that I’ve ever experienced personally and with friends/associates. After 5 months of online research and reviews looking for the best certified vehicle and dealer for me, I found exactly what I needed at Alex VW via AutoTrader.com. I stopped by for “just a look” at a Certified 2010 CC, and after stated that just sitting in & looking over the car was ALL that I wanted to do that day, I received immediate respect and ZERO PRESSURE from Barry L.; with full cooperation in providing me all the info I needed to leave PRESSURE FREE to go home and think about the car and my budget. I called him a few days later to stop by again for a test drive and he provided the same accommodation, respect and ZERO pressure; even after I took time to go buy lunch, research a bit more, and come back. It resulted in THE MOST PEACEFUL CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE THAT I HAVE EVER HAD, and I have the utmost admiration for the Alexandria VW sales training team and leadership. Barry L. felt like more of a “Consultant” than a “Salesperson”. My experience in the SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN EQUALLY REMARKABLE; WITH SERIVCE MANAGER JONAH KABAZZI AND SERVICE ADVISOR JUSTYNE CANNATA PROVIDING UNPARRALED CUSTOMER SERVICE EXCELLENCE. In fact, ALL OF THE ALEXANDRIA VW SERIVCE ADVISORS – including Tracy M. and Bob M. – have consistently provided me the most personable, yet thoroughly experienced information and service that I've ever experience at any dealership anywhere regarding any vehicle make…PERIOD. I agree with other Alex VW reviews that state that “this is not a service team that seeks to make busy work at the customer's expense, but a scrutinizing group that identifies the problem, makes every effort to resolve it, then carefully explains the procedure in a way the customer can understand and appreciate.” I too have had to use the dealership's Shuttle Service on more than one occasion, and they exude the same exceptional customer focused attitude Alexandria VW’s leadership team, Sales Dept., Accounting, Service Dept., and Customer Support teams. This is a tribute to Mr. Wes Greenway and his son for owning, managing and maintaining the best automotive leadership team and organization that I have ever experienced in my life. And as if this were not enough, Volkswagen of America mirrors this experience at a national level. Me and my wife cam today looking for a new vehicle. I got approached by Chuck who was a sales person. He have no knowledge of the cars that they have in the dealership. I had to go internet myself and show him what I saw and what I was looking for. Finally we were able to find the car. The car was not in the lot and he had to go to warehouse, he first decided to work out a deal, even before he will bring the car. Since I drove the car before it wasn't a problem for me. He went to talk to the Sales Manager, he came back about after 10 minutes with ridiculous numbers. When I asked him about the sales price of the car, he just told me if you don't like it just go away. I asked to speak to a Sales Manager and was introduced to Mr. Marcello Grimaldi, when I attempted to explain the problem I was treated the same horrible way. You don't like it just leave we will not sell you the car. I've been to many dealerships and change many different cars, but have never seen service so horrible. They don't stand by their words, and just trying to put you in the car. The specials they have online are not existent. I would never go to this dealership and definitely not recommending it to my friends. I hope that someone will read this review and will contact me regarding this situation. Dr. Max Kramer More

Loved the car, hated the dealer staff. The salesman I initially spoke with was friendly enough, but completely clueless about the car and mostly wanted to share his canned sales lines. He immediately asked me what other cars I was looking at, asked me why I would ever consider something else, and tried as hard as he could to bully me into buying a car from him. He called me "stupid" and told me I "didn't know what I was talking about." I felt like I was talking to the cops, it was atrocious. My wife and I have since purchased two Volkswagens from another local dealership and couldn't be happier with the cars. More
Extremely pleaseant low pressure sales experience. Bernie was very well trained in client service. We received a fair trade-in value on our vehicle and a competetive price on our new VW purchase. I haven't felt this disrespected at a car dealer since the 80's. I went in to discuss buying out my lease. It was made very clear they saw no value in me as a customer and had no interest in me pu since the 80's. I went in to discuss buying out my lease. I think they see they can make more money getting the car (in excellent condition with mileage below the lease terms) back. Too bad, since I have several young adult children who will be buying cars over the next few years, but we won't be returning here to do so. I did have on oil change at the same time and Tracy in the Service Department was very nice. But I was never able to get the phone answered on several attempts so I took my chances and just showed up without an appointment. More
I bought a new 2013 VW Eos Lux from Bernie today. I have to say that I am impressed with the straight dealing and friendly approach I experienced with Bernie. We were able to come to an agreement via SMS messaging at a really good price, and when I went to pick up the car later in the afternoon, he had it prepped and ready to go and the deal paperwork teed-up. When I found a small error in the paperwork, he immediately confirmed it with the GM, revised the paperwork and we closed. No hassle, no finagle, no games. I went to this dealership because it was recommended to me as a straight dealing operation with a solid service center. The recommendation was dead on, and I would perpetuate the recommendation to anyone in the market for a VW. Ask for Bernie- he will do you right. More
I bought a used car from them. The salesman assured me that this car and been through a rigorous inspection and was in mint condition. I drive it home with no real problems. I call them up and they tell me to bring it in and they will take a look at it. Well i live three hours from the dealership so that wasn't possible, and the car wouldn't start to make it there anyway. After wasting a full day trying to figure out the problem and walking several miles to get jumper cables i find out i need a new battery. I tell the dealership this and they say fax the receipts over and we will write you a check today. Well one week and three phone calls later i am told that the check got put onto the outgoing mail pile(Still haven't received check). Three days after the battery dies the door handle on the driver door stops working. i call them and tell them they say there is nothing we can do, we only work on volkswagen. They also tell me that they only do the minimum state inspection on used cars and not the rigorous one i was expecting and told it had. They were not helpful or even appeared to care with any of my problems. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. More
