I narrowed my choice down to a used Saturn Ion - it was finally a car that had fairly little mileage on it but was still in my price range. My salesman, Carlos Ayala let me take it for a couple of test drives, and really set me at ease. I had previously gone to another dealership where the salesman started to get quite pushy, but Carlos was not that way. I'm much more likely to buy something when I don't feel like I'm being forced/pushed into it, and part of the reason why I did end up buying the car was because Carlos was very patient and willing to work with me. The asking price for the car was already pretty good, but still towards the high end of my price range. When I asked if there was any way for them to bring it further down, Carlos was not only able to do so, but they also gave me a warranty (a short one, but a warranty nonetheless) and filled the car up with a full tank of gas rather than just the usual half tank for used cars. What really gave me peace of mind was them giving me a 24 hour grace period to take the car, and if I decided I didn't like it, I could return it with no questions asked. Before that I'd still felt good about the car, but wasn't yet 100% sure I'd go through with it. Their willingness to give me that time to take the car and Carlos working to get something like that for me was a big influence on my final decision to buy it. Yong helped out with all the paperwork, and he was great too. He was very patient and explained things very clearly to me. Overall, I felt very comfortable with both Carlos and Yong. They were very helpful, patient, and kind. I'm much more likely to buy a product (especially a huge investment like a car) when I'm dealing with people like that. It was a great experience! More

But in the case of Wes Greenway's Alexandria Volkswagen I feel compelled to make note of what sets them far apart from an all-too-common model. As a lifelong car/motorcycle enthusiast, I have encountered all manner and quality of vehicle manufacturing, dealers and 3rd-party suppliers over the past 33 years. Several have made occasionally good impressions with respect to one quality or another, be it sales/customer care, product value, serviceability or product integrity, but NONE in that span has stood out in EVERY SINGLE respect...none that is until I experienced the entirety of Alexandria VW. Having begun a relationship with this dealer over the modest requirement of a handful of OEM parts, my immediate respect and admiration for Fred M. (not to mention his erstwhile partner, Roberto G.) there, caused me to risk a foray into the Service Dept. (for work which I would normally do myself). My experience in Service was no less remarkable than in Parts. From underwriters Tracy M. and Bob M., to Service Techs Joey W. and Adam F., I was initially, then perpetually treated to the most personable, yet thoroughly experienced service department members I've ever met. This is not a service team that seeks to make busy work at the customer's expense, but a scrutinizing group that identifies the problem, makes every effort to resolve it, then carefully explains the procedure in a way the customer can understand and appreciate. Having had to use the dealership's incomparable Shuttle Service on more than one occasion, I've come to know and regard even the humble shuttle drivers Cecelia S. and Solomon A. in much the same respect; they exude no less the human quality than the rest. This unconventional attitude even pervades the Sales Dept., where Marcello G. has "helped" me experience what VW has to offer through 4 different vehicles, with perhaps even more on the horizon. There is more than coincidence taking place at Alexandria VW. This is an incomparable and complete team effort. Even more than that, Alexandria VW is a remarkable family business composed of hand-selected people that resemble the sterling qualities and desires of the dealer's ownership. My hat's off to Mr. Greenway and his son for owning, managing and perpetuating the best total automotive establishment...hands-down...I have ever seen in my life. More
I leased a Beetle Bug from Mr. John Mercer in 2008; started bringing my Beetle to Alexandria's location when the company closed. To my surprise Mr. Mercer had relocated to this location. Once again wit started bringing my Beetle to Alexandria's location when the company closed. To my surprise Mr. Mercer had relocated to this location. Once again with his assistant to Brian (sales)I have now leased the 20012 Beetle. I am more than please & happy once again with the advise of Mr. Mercer. I had the opportunity to meet Brian (sales)who extended excellent service explaining & detailing my new car. My overall experience for the last (4)years with the customer service from the service dept(Tracy),receptionists to repairs have all been friendly, professional & excellent service. Driving my new Beetle has turned a lot of heads; when asked I tell them about Alex VW regardless if they want to purchase or lease a car; you can't find a better place to come, feel @ home & do business. My experience buying a 2012 Passat could not have been better. After a some negotiation, I was able to get the exact car I wanted at the price I wanted. Marcello managed my purchase of a new TDI and I would and will very highly recommend him and his dealership to anyone. He worked with me to quickly get to a price we were both happy with and he and his staf will very highly recommend him and his dealership to anyone. Dealer options were offered and fully explained but there was no overdone pressure to buy things I wasn't interested in. The car was ready when promised in spotless condition with a full tank. Charles did a great run through of all the cars features and offered to set up my first service. The best part was the after-sale care. Marcello made sure everything was right and didn't abandon me after I had signed and paid. These guys are great. I can't recommend them highly enough. I brought my VW Passat to this dealership to have my sunroof repaired, which seemed to open and close during driving even if I had set it to "close". The sunroof had been an issue for a while, but I swu sunroof repaired, which seemed to open and close during driving even if I had set it to "close". The sunroof had been an issue for a while, but I swung into action only after the Washington DC area hurricane had resulted in water entering my car through my defective sun roof. My main agent was Paul. After a few hours of reviewing the car, Paul described the problem, saying that in addition to the sunroof issue, the TCM would have to be replaced ($1,900), the front chairs removed for drying the carpets, etc. etc., all told, the bill amounted to about $2,800. After expressing concern about the high price and discussing my options, the bill came down to about $2,500 after he cut back on some of the labour costs. After going home to think about it and consult with individuals highly experienced with the mechanics of VW cars, I decided to have my car towed away from the dealership, and brought it to another repair shop. They said that the TCM could be dried (i.e. it did not need to be replaced, unlike the VW's assessment), and after all was said and done, I had both the TCM issue and the sunroof taken care of for $219! My car drives wonderfully ever since. Asymmetric information between the seller of a service (in this case the dealership) and the buyer of a service (in this case me) is quite notoriously an issue which can lead to a service to the detriment of the buyer. I was just amazed how much in this case I was being unnecessarily overcharged, to the tune of more than 10 times what I really needed to pay to have the mechanical problem resolved. More
