After rotating my tires, Usually Jack Taylor's Alexandria Toyota's service is excellent. This time they made an error that could have been disastrous. After rotating my tires, the technician failed to tighten the lug nuts on my left front wheel. The day after the service, I drove from DC to Raleigh, NC. The wheel began to make a bad thumping sound when I arrived in the Raleigh area. If I hadn't stopped at a tire service, the wheel could have fallen off while I was doing 75 on route 85. Lucky me, lucky Alexandria Toyota. More

Who do you trust with your safety? Have you ever been concerned whether the inspection, service and repair of your vehicle was actually completed after you leave the service department? Have you ever been concerned whether the inspection, service and repair of your vehicle was actually completed after you leave the service department? Were they done properly? Completely? Is your vehicle safe? Have you ever thought about what would happen if the vehicle you purchased ever rusted out underneath its beautiful exterior? Would you lose your investment? Would the vehicle suspension literally come apart in pieces while you are speeding down the highway? Would periodic inspections at a Toyota dealership's service department prevent these tragedies? Would you certainly be safe if you specifically took your vehicle to the dealership and asked for an inspection of your vehicle's frame because you see rust underneath? Check this out: I took my 40,000-mile Tacoma to Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Taylor due to severe corrosion that was jeopardizing the safe operation of the vehicle, and would lead to failure of the suspension components in the near future. The vehicle had an outstanding recall to address the widespread problem of rust eating through the frames of Toyota trucks. Several days after I dropped the vehicle off, I received a phone call from Sami, the service advisor, telling me that the vehicle had passed the corrosion inspection of the frame, and that they did no work related to this recall. They did complete another recall related to corrosion of the spare tire lift mechanism. After a week at the service department of Jack Taylor's Alexandria Toyota, I had my beautiful Tacoma back under my feet, driving down the highway. Certified safe and problem-free, Right? Follow along: Fortunately, I drove the Tacoma to an independent auto service shop and dropped it off for an oil change. Shortly afterwards, I received a phone call from the owner requesting I return immediately while the vehicle was on the lift. The mechanic showed me all of the rusted components under the vehicle, and tried as calmly as possible to give me my first close-up view straight through the paper-thin walls of the vehicle's frame. The frame had disintegrated right at the point where the leaf spring for the rear axle attached to the frame. I could stick my fingers through the gapping hole, surrounded by paper-thin rusted steel. The independent service shop didn’t even take time to complete the oil change. The shop owner was too concerned for the situation, and suggested I contact Toyota immediately. If it weren’t for the independent service shop, I could have been a casualty, and caused a serious collision on the highway. With only 40,000 miles on this mostly garage-kept vehicle, I am really disappointed with the metals used in vital components. In addition to the frame, many other components underneath the truck are rusted out including the gas tank shield, and other safety related components such as the rear step bumper and side step-rail attachments. The side step-rails are literally corroding off the vehicle. A common problem with Toyota trucks, but maybe an isolated incident at Jack Taylor's Alexandria Toyota? The fact that the rotten frame passed Jack Taylor’s inspection, despite my serious concerns and pleas for assurance, has resulted in many sleepless nights and destroyed my confidence in the integrity and quality of the Toyota ownership experience. Add to that, my last visit to Jack Taylor's Alexandria Toyota was to take my truck for a periodic service before leaving for a 3-month, cross-country business trip. I had an early appointment, and dropped the vehicle off well before the appointment. I returned that evening to find that the vehicle had not been touched. The service manager said they didn’t have time to change the oil and make the checks necessary for the inspection. I told him I must have the vehicle to leave very early in the morning. He made it crystal clear that Jack Taylor’s Alexandria Toyota had a very busy service department and that my inconvenience was not uncommon in their business. It's easy to assume that spending the additional money to have your vehicle serviced at your local Toyota dealership guarantees quality, and is erring on the side of safety. Surely Toyota mechanics know best and will return your vehicle in the best and safest condition? Decide for yourself. More

My most recent visit was last month (August 2015) with Ms. Simpy Behl. Ms. Behl is the only service advisor that I would deal with. She is friendly, courteous, and always keeps me in the loop with the status of my vehicle. I recently purchased another vehicle and I am really going to miss her assistance. Fortunately, I have a family member that owns a Toyota and I have told him to please keep Ms. Behl in mind when service is required. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK SIMPY!!! PS - I would have left a review but for some reason I have not been receiving the customer service survey for Ms. Behl after my last visits. Thanks again...Lisa Winston More
