Shady and insulting folks work here We wanted to schedule a test drive, so the manager emailed me to ask if we were only visiting to score a paltry $25 visa gift card. Awful first impres We wanted to schedule a test drive, so the manager emailed me to ask if we were only visiting to score a paltry $25 visa gift card. Awful first impression. Later, after my wife and I took time out of our busy schedule to actually test drive two cars, the dealership lied about submitting a form for us to receive the modest incentive. Do yourself a favor: find any other dealership when looking for a new Subaru. More
INCOMPETENT Finance Manager WATCH OUT FOR DARCIE We were having a very positive experience purchasing a vehicle from Albany Ford in Albany, California. Our salesperson Michae WATCH OUT FOR DARCIE We were having a very positive experience purchasing a vehicle from Albany Ford in Albany, California. Our salesperson Michael Wallace was great and the other support personnel were fantastic. Our problems came when we went to the financial person DARCIE. First, DARCIE tried to get us to sign a waiver about the misuse of tire chains. ????? We refused. DARCIE got huffy. Although we had just spent over $46,000 for the vehicle, DARCIE tried to sell us an aftermarket coating for the paint. Is there a problem with the paint on Ford vehicles? We said, “No, thank you.” DARCIE then offered to sell us the coating for $100 less. We again said, “No, thank you.” DARCIE got huffier. We were also in the process of applying for a mortgage so, even though Ford was offering zero percent financing, we had to pay cash. Another credit event would have undercut mortgage approval. When we came back to pay in cash, DARCIE produced a bill that was $80 over the agreed price. When we objected, DARCIE went through a series of machinations on her computer. We both shook our heads, and DARCIE relented. Weeks later, our license plates and title arrived from the Division of Motor Vehicles. Even though we had paid cash, the title said Ford Motor Credit had a lien on the vehicle. We also received two letters from credit companies saying our applications for credit had been rejected. We PAID CASH, remember. When we confronted DARCIE, she said she made a mistake and was sorry. Sorry, DARCIE, we know SPITE, when we see it. Our advice if you buy from Albany Ford, REFUSE TO DEAL WITH DARCIE. More
I took my sister's Subaru into this dealer as a favor to her. I did not feel positive about this dealer from the start, but since I did not have anything solid to complain about, and my sister had been tak her. I did not feel positive about this dealer from the start, but since I did not have anything solid to complain about, and my sister had been taking her car here, I respected her wishes and took it in here. I need the ignition re-keyed. This dealer did the lazy job and simply gave me a new ignition key without matching it to the door keys. They tried to pass this off as "standard" and did not even brief me on my options or ask what I wanted. When I complained, they told me again this was "standard." I spoke to the manager several times and the best she could offer me would be to return the car to its original state. She emphasized that this would be "free of charge." This was after the car had been in the shop for 4 days. In addition, my sister had spent over $1400 servicing her car there in the past year. I found this whole process absolutely appalling! The mechanics had done a sloppy job and charged for it. They assumed that since I am a young woman I would not know any better, and when I did and spoke up, the customer service was just terrible. My sister immediately switched dealers after this experience. Not only would I NOT recommend this shop, but I would go out of my way to tell someone to avoid this crooked dealership. More
I tried to buy a Subaru from this dealer a couple years ago - the worst experience ever! I was living in Chicago and moving back to the Bay Area and wanted to get a California car so there would be no prob ago - the worst experience ever! I was living in Chicago and moving back to the Bay Area and wanted to get a California car so there would be no problems and no extras to put on. They just screwed me around. Took my drivers license when I asked for a price and then left me for approximately 2 hours. No one to ask anything, no way to get my drivers license back. Then they just came back and said they didn't think I was serious. We'll I eventually bought my Subaru. When my sister bought her WRX and I bought my next car we drove out of our way to avoid these sleezy sales people. Service is lousy too. When my mechanic tried to order parts, they lost the order, and were consistantly just plain rude. I will run from this business forever, so will all my family and friends. Too bad to because I live quite close to the dealership now. More
