Worst Car Buying Experience Ever!! I'm not one to bash businesses publicly or write bad reviews but my wife and I just had, hands down the worst car buying experience ever! We drove 4 h I'm not one to bash businesses publicly or write bad reviews but my wife and I just had, hands down the worst car buying experience ever! We drove 4 hours on (12.10.16) from Central Florida so my wife and I could purchase a 2016 GMC Acadia with low miles from Al Hendrickson. When we first inspected the car, we found it to be very dirty inside however the salesman said they could get it detailed for us while we did the paperwork. There were also 2 areas within the interior of the vehicle which were damaged and they only had one key for the car and no remote. While negotiating the deal, we agreed to buy the car only if the items above were addressed before we leave the lot. The Used Car Manager, Ira agreed, we shook hands and signed a “WE OWE” form stating that Al Hendrickson would honor that deal and would start addressing those items while we finished up the paperwork. The paperwork process took 3 hours and finally finished around 7PM while still having to drive 4 hours back home that night. When we walked out to get our car, we noticed that the interior had not even been detailed; not even touched! There were stickers on the back windshield from the last owner and the dealership stock number sticker on the front windshield had not even been removed. Nothing had been done to clean the car! Both interior items that were damaged still remained as we last saw them and they claimed that they could not get it into service in time to fix them? Their solution was to take it to a GMC dealership in our hometown, get the items fixed, and send them the bill. After reading some of the reviews here, it is clear that Al Hendrickson has no intention of honoring their deal to the customer (me) for the repair of these items. In addition to all of the above, the separate set of keys and remote were never found and again, Al Hendrickson told us they would find them and mail them to us….again, VERY doubtful that will happen. To finish off their display of great customer service, we found the new car we purchased from Al Hendrickson was left on empty with no gas. After pointing it out to the Used Car Manager Ira, he said customer policy was just $20 in gas for used cars. What kind of dealership does that? We have never bought a used car from anywhere where we did not get (1) 2 sets of keys (2) a full tank of gas. I was forced to go to the big boss in charge and display my dissatisfaction to get them to fill the tank. He agreed after rolling his eyes saying that we just saved thousands on a new car. After choosing to give our business to Al Hendrickson Toyota, we were left driving home 4 hours in a dirty new car with one key, damaged items on the interior, and the thought that we would have to pay to fix these ourselves…not an enjoyable experience by any stretch of the imagination. In summary for those who are considering Al Hendrickson Toyota for their next car purchase: (1) Beware of the fees they try to charge. $1,299 Electronic Filing Fee (BS), $899 Nitrogen Fee (BS..unless you are buying a sports car), $695 Dealer Fee (This is a common fee). That is $2,893 in fees. Their sales strategy is to get you in the door with low lot prices, then jam those fees right up your ass! Don’t fall for it! (2) Don’t purchase anything from Al Hendrickson Toyota until all items of concern are addressed. There are plenty of dealerships around Ft. Lauderdale who will value your business and honor their word to you as the customer. (3) Do not get financing from this dealership…get it before you go. They told us we were approved for 5.5% with my wife’s prime credit rating….we ended up negotiating this back down 2% but they will try to screw you on the back end of the deal too. (4) Do not get Gap Insurance if you paid more than 20% down on your car….you won’t need it and they will push you hard for it. Do your homework on this before you buy a car. (5) Their extended warranties are Very Expensive! Again, another profit generator and can be bought independently elsewhere. Don’t buy it from Al Hendrickson Toyota. Update Nearly a Week Later: We have still not receive our keys or a call from anyone regarding these issues. I called the salesman, Helano Oliveira yesterday (4 days after the purchase) and he had clearly not even looked for them. The one key we do have sets off the car alarm every time we manually unlock and open the door. So we bought a 2016 car from this dealership and can't even unlock it in public without the alarm going off while no-one in their office has bothered to look for the set of keys and remote that was promised to us. If by the grace of God, we receive a set of keys and a refund for fixing the broken items which were promised to us as part of the deal to purchase the car, I will remove this review but it's not looking promising at this point!
