We're all busy so instead of typing a long paragraph of negative issues that no one has the time to read I'll cut right to the most important info. After all, it's really all about our hard-earned money and fair play, isn't it? So here goes: o I was initially quoted a price of $7,000.00 from Acton Toyota for a repair that other Toyota dealers gave me a ballpark repair cost of $2,700 - $3,500. depending on the extent of possible unseen damage (yes, you read that right...the other dealers quoted me a charge of $3,500 to $4,300 LESS than Acton Toyota initially quoted me). My response to Acton's incredibly high quote was to tell them to leave the car where I could pick it up. Before I got to the dealership I received a call back with a new quote bringing the total down a few thousand (thousand!) dollars. When I asked how the two quotes could be so far apart, they said they would be taking a loss on the labor. Really. And, turns out, they were STILL much higher than their competitors. I told them once again to leave the car where I could pick it up. Upon entering my car, I saw they left paperwork on the seat with an even LESS expensive quote than their first reduction. And down the road, I found this was STILL higher than their competitors. I had absolutely no trust in them after that. And then... o I was offered a price of $8,000.00 from Alex Wheaton of Acton Toyota to purchase my car if I chose not to have it repaired. This wasn't even close to the $14,300. I was offered - and accepted - at another dealer (yes, you read that right...I was handed a check for $6,300 MORE than Acton Toyota offered). The other dealers I visited were much closer to the price I ended up accepting than they were to Acton's ridiculous offer. Dealing with Glenn Hoffman, General Manager and Rob Sullivan, Service Director turned out to be fruitless. Communication was only good when they didn't mind the questions I was asking. When they did mind, I got either doublespeak, crickets, or in one case, a lie. We purchased two vehicles from Acton Toyota in the past but between the info I just shared with you and other details I left out in the interest of keeping this info focused on the two most important points, we will never, ever consider them again. Acton Toyota is not the upstanding dealership we once experienced. I don't go out of my way to tell my neighbors how badly Acton Toyota treated me but I definitely share my experience with anyone who wonders where my car is. And I'm happy to share the info with you here in hopes of saving at least one of you a bad experience and lots of money. I went to five Toyota dealers total and all but Acton Toyota treated me fairly and quoted similar and reasonable repair estimates and purchase offers. Acton Toyota was outrageously off the mark in my case, so beware - if money in your own pocket matters to you, consider taking the time to do some homework by contacting the other area Toyota dealers. The extra $6,300.00 in my bank account tells me I made the right decision in taking my business to one of their Toyota dealership competitors. More
