ABC Nissan strives to maintain the highest standards of customer service during each opportunity we are given to assist our clients. While, we may fall short doing so occasionally, we pride ourselves in delivering a quick resolution if we have made an error which would effect one of our valued customers. In this instance, the customer purchased a vehicle from our store on 8/12/12, and was charged $502.43 for license fees to be collected by MVD. At this time, we also received a quote from the customer’s current lender for the remaining balance he still owed on the vehicle he was going to trade-in. Once the deal was processed by our accounting staff, they learned that the customer’s lender quoted our dealership an amount that was $546.14 short of the actual amount needed to payoff his trade. We paid the shortage to the lender on the customer’s behalf to ensure that his loan would not accrue any further interest or late charges. We did so confident this would later be resolved, as the customer was made aware and signed and received paperwork when he purchased which clearly stated in the terms and condition: “Should the actual payoff be less, we will refund the difference to you. If the payoff is more, you agree to pay the difference to us on demand.” The customer’s plates were processed immediately after the customer’s contract was processed, and his new tags were sent to his home on 8/24/12. The cost of this transaction with Arizona MVD came to $318.04. This left a balance of $184.39 which was over estimated at the time of purchase. We made many attempts to contact the customer to make arrangements for payment regarding the money owed to our store for the balance on his trade, and had held his check to see want payment arrangements he had in mind or if he wanted to apply the overage to his outstanding balance. We heard nothing from the customer until January 15, 2013, when he called upset, being very rude and aggressive using profanities toward our accounting staff about being pulled over by the police for having canceled plates displayed on his vehicle. Our accounting department confirmed the tags had been processed in August, shortly after the sale of the vehicle, but we told the customer that we would call MVD to find out what had happened. Our staff was informed that the customer had gone to the MVD website and processed a plate refund himself on 10/22/12, canceling the plates we had processed for him. He received a refund check from MVD for $326.02. We immediately contacted the customer to inform him of the situation and what was need for the MVD to reprocess the canceled plates with the money he had received. The customer again became belligerent with several of the female members of our accounting staff his infuriated, unnecessary and abrasive demeanor towards our staff members made it impossible for them to provide him any further explanation or the ability to reason with the customer. Unwilling to subject our accounting staff to any further verbal assault for an error that that customer himself had made, we gave him the $184.39 refund check on 01/26/13. We were not the cause of the customer being pulled over by the police for having a canceled plate on his vehicle, nor did we keep his refund check to increase the amount of profit made on the car deal as the customer has implied. The customer has a $546.14 debt to our store that still remains unpaid, and we have received a review which is a false representation of how ABC Nissan treats our customers or conducts business.
