I have 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid, which mechanically is the same a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid (same engine, CVT, A/C, Power steering, etc). For convenience, I took it to Pohanka Nissan vice my Infiniti dealer (located 50 miles away in Arlington VA) to repair a leak of an oil based, neon green liquid I discovered on my garage floor. When I dropped the QX60 off, I told the service writer I believed the leaking fluid to be A/C refrigerant with green dye (Infiniti puts green dye in the A/C lines to help identify leaks). I also provided photos of the stain on my garage and photos of where it was pooling on the bottom of the car, near the right rear of the suspension lower control A-arm. Despite this information, Pohanka’s service writer was adamant the green liquid was a radiator fluid that was caused by a loose radiator drain plug. (I questioned this diagnosis multiple times with the service writer – My car has Nissan blue radiator coolant, how does it turn green and oily?). The service writer insisted it was radiator coolant, and recommended a coolant service ($200) which I agreed too – I would have been extremely happy if this was the issue. However, the next time I drove the car, the leak reappeared on my garage floor. I took the vehicle back to Pohanka Nissan and I told the service writer the leak appears to be coming from the A/C evaporator. The service writer told me I would be charged $150 to diagnose the issue, however if I authorized them to fixed it the diagnosis fee would count towards the repair bill. I specially asked could they fix it, as I have an Infiniti, and the service writer stated yes if it was the evaporator. Two hours later, I received a phone call stating they verified the leak was coming from the evaporator as I thought, but that they couldn’t fix it because it was a hybrid. The service writer recommended I take it to Infiniti. The kicker was I was also told I would have to pay for the diagnosis, but they would give me a discount ($112 vs $150). I could live with paying for the coolant flush even though it wasn’t absolutely necessary, however I should have told me upfront they couldn’t fix an evaporator leak on a QX60 Hybrid, and I most definitely should not have been charged another $112 to tell me this…horrible customer service. The service writer just padded the bill. So, I ended up spending $320 total to not fix the problem and to be told I needed to take it to Infiniti. I will not make that mistake again, and I will not be back to Pohanka Nissan. I do not recommend their Service Dept.
