I’ve bought a great number of new cars in my lifetime, I’m 76 years young, and never have dealt with such a gentleman/salesman as Mr. Francis Johnson. His approach to selling cars is bar none. His demeanor, attitude and his ability to make you feel like a family member instead of just a customer really showed true during my car buying experience at Thompson Buick. He went above and beyond, without using pressure tactics, to assure that I was pleased and satisfied with my new car purchase. In addition I was really impressed with the entire Thompson staff. They were all polite, courteous and made my car buying a great experience. Thank you Francis for all the efforts you made in making me a returning customer in the future. I drove from Hampton Road Virginia to buy my car and will do it again God willing.
Go to the family owned dealership, so they can screw you like only family can. In the initial round of negotiating the trade-in, the salesman tells me the guy that test drove it noticed a hiccup in the transmission. I should have left after that scare tactic and never looked back. The Thompson way. Then, the $1084 for window tint, nitrogen in the tires ("nitro" so you don't Google it and realize Costco does it for free.), rubber floor mats, and $3 worth of vinyl on the edge of the door as a door protector. I should have left after that and never looked back. The Thompson way. We agree that my truck should bring in more money, they stand to make almost 50%, they could meet me in the middle a little better. I had to get the title, said I'd be back the next day. We manage to agree on a price on the phone. My assumption was they'd give me more for my truck like we discussed the day before. I mentioned multiple times at this point that I want the 2.9% financing. My credit is stellar, shouldn't be a big deal to qualify. They'll commit to a price over the phone and agree that it'll work with the 2.9% financing. That got me back in the door and then "oh yeah, we can't give you that offer with that financing. But if we take this $2,000 rebate off that is lumped in with all the discounts you'll qualify for it..." There's no apologies, no feeling bad. No I'm sorry for wasting your time. No let's try to make this work. That's the Thompson way. The whole time the "General Manager" is hiding in some room like a coward. The Thompson way.
Friendly, easy to deal with. Explained how their relationship with the customer was very important to them. Francis was exceptionally kind and very helpful.
