Seller's Comments

Pontiac introduced the Firebird in February of 1967 to go head to head with the Chevrolet Camaro and the Ford Mustang, and by 1968 they had found their stride. The convertible was the rarest body style in the lineup that year, with only 16,960 built out of more than 107,000 total Firebirds, and every one of them carried a presence that the hardtop simply could not match. This one has been taken apart and put back together from the frame up, finished in deep blue with a black convertible top, and it still feels exactly the way a freshly built car should. The 326 badge on the nose is a tribute to the engine that came before, replaced by the 350 in 1968 but remembered here the right way. Under the hood is a fully rebuilt 400 cubic inch V8 backed by a Super Turbo 300 two speed automatic. The 400 was the big block option in the Firebird lineup and it delivers the kind of low-end torque that makes every on-ramp feel like a drag strip. The rear end and transmission have both been rebuilt, the suspension has been completely redone, and front disc brakes, new brake lines, and new fuel lines round out a car that drives as well as it looks. The teal engine block and head covers are a sharp detail that give the engine bay a finished, custom look without going overboard. Inside, the all-new black leather interior is clean and complete. Wood trim runs across the center console and dashboard, Firebird floor mats are in place, and a black leather wrapped silver steering wheel ties the whole cabin together. The trunk has been lined and finished, and a retro style radio gives you modern function without breaking the period feel of the interior. Externally the car has been given new chrome throughout, new grilles, and Cragar five spoke wheels that suit the body perfectly. The painted undercarriage is the kind of detail that separates a thorough restoration from a superficial one, and this one was done thoroughly. Everything from the door skins and rockers to the rubber seals and water strips was replaced or rebuilt in the process. A ground-up restoration on one of the rarest Firebird body styles of the era, with barely any miles since completion. Please call or email us today for more information.
