My wife and I just had our first ever car buying experience. After visiting Mercedes + VW we decided to explore Volvo. We visited ANOTHER LOCAL Volvo dealership and the XC60 really peaked our intere experience. After visiting Mercedes + VW we decided to explore Volvo. We visited ANOTHER LOCAL Volvo dealership and the XC60 really peaked our interest. It had a lot of power, space for our 19 month old’s car seat and the standard features were stronger than the Mercedes GLC. When visiting the OTHER dealership, we expressed interest in the car and were ready to purchase, however the price they quoted seemed a bit high. When we stated that, we were made to feel as if we were wasting the sales person and dealership’s time. When we showed them the price that the vehicle should actually be (math is helpful to know) they told us that they were quoting us for the wrong vehicle and brought the monthly cost down significantly. This - coupled with the salespersons general approach + lack of vehicle knowledge turned us off. My wife and I still were interested in the XC60, so we decided to call Smythe Volvo, and we were put in touch with Kyle Jackson. Kyle and I discussed what we were looking for (XC60 T5 Momentum) and he said that he would take a look to see what he could find in his inventory. Throughout the process Kyle was warm, knowledgeable, professional and really listened to what we were looking for. He worked quickly to provide us with a quote (which was more in line with the price we were looking to pay) and shortly thereafter we let him know that we were in. Since Kyle didn’t have our exact vehicle in stock, he told us that he’d look to see if other dealerships in the area had the model we were looking for. A few days into the search Kyle let us know that he wasn’t able to find our exact car, but he was able to find a XC60 T5 Inscription (the highest trim - we had originally asked for the momentum - the base trim). Kyle graciously said that in the spirit of the holiday season, he would upgrade us AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. We accepted and just picked up our new car today. At the dealership today, we connected with Kyle, Paul and Ernest. Paul was kind, knowledgeable and very personable as he walked us through all of the features of the car and answered any / every question that my wife and I had. Ernest quickly walked us though the paperwork and thoroughly explained the details of our lease agreement. We were then passed back off to Kyle who brought our new car around for my wife. Overall, it’s clear that Kyle, Paul, Ernest and Smythe are prioritizing the opportunity to develop a relationship over the need to sell one car to one couple. They really went above and beyond and my wife and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the team at Smythe. Also, given the difficulty with doing things in person these days they made it easy to handle a great deal from home. Just one more quick anecdote - when we got back home, we realized that the roof racks that we asked for were not included (just a small oversight). Kyle just dropped off the roof racks at our home after a long day at work. It’s just another example of how they want to make sure that they’re putting the customer first . A lot of businesses can learn from this approach. More
