I really hate car dealerships--new or used. I'd rather go to the dentist than buy a car. My experience at Fitzgerald Mitsubishi/Mazda in Annapolis did not change this opinion. Before getting into why, I would like to state that Kyle Edwards is an excellent salesperson. He answered all questions thoroughly, and did not attempt to upsell me on a vehicle that was outside my extremely limited budget. What really aggravated me, though, was the game played by some of Kyle's higher ups concerning the prospective loan's interest rate. I had a specified loan payment in mind, and I was not going to waver far from it. The game was started by Kyle presenting me an offer of over 10% for a 72-month term. xxxx, I've got a credit card with a lower rate. Then he went back to someone, making me and my wife sit for about a half hour, only to come back with 9%. Another denial by me; I said try a shorter term; another half-hour waiting, and another insulting offer of 8 point something percent. I was quite aggravated at this point, but Kyle was patient although this was out of his control. He asked whoever was above him to try one more time. And another half-hour elapsed, and Kyle came back with an almost tolerable 7.1%. My limit had been reached on number of tries using financing through the dealership, so I played the credit union card. My credit union offered the loan for 6.3%, but I could not adjust the pre-approval I had received from visiting another dealership earlier in the week. Including just one test drive, I had been at Fitzgerald for over 3 hours, and I had had enough for the day. I promised I would investigate the credit union further and come back the next time Kyle was available, which was two days away. That day came; I was able to get a check from the credit union, and I was fast-tracked through the rest of the financing process. Still, the total transaction took 5 hours, which is among the quickest times I've been able to successfully purchase an automobile. I can never give an auto dealership 5-stars since there is no such thing as an affordable automobile financed at 0% interest with free extended warranty, but Fitzgerald of Annapolis does merit 4 stars for having competent, non-pushy salespeople who were willing to work with the customer to prevent the deal from falling through--unlike many other dealerships in the greater Baltimore-Washington area. More

We test drove the vehicle long before buying it due to some questions about the ownership history, it not being advertised as having a warranty, and we wanted the price to be dropped by an additional $100 some questions about the ownership history, it not being advertised as having a warranty, and we wanted the price to be dropped by an additional $1000. Our email with our questions and concerns was forwarded to the GM (the previous owner). We ended up getting a short warranty, clarification on our ownership concerns and the $1000 off. We did stipulate that we wanted a complete owner’s manual just like if the car was new. Michael Worthington personally drove approximately 2 hours to deliver the book, but it is missing the case and all inserts. When our tags arrived they were not as promised, which is the standard 2 year tags. We have been ping ponged to a bunch of people to rectify this issue, but it still isn’t fixed. We want the rest of the owner’s manual components and the 2nd year added to our registration. To be clear, the issues we are currently having are not Michael Worthington’s problem; he was a joy to work with, and he went way above and beyond. Please fix the issues. More

This is my second time working with Chris. I met him several years ago when I drove off your lot with a Mazda 6 (wonderful car!). This time around, I was thinking about an MX5. Chris was just as terrific to work with as I remember. He got me into a test drive on a soft top and helped me arrange to get an RF down from Frederick to drive as well. Warm and professional, he got into both of these smaller cars with me and was a wonderful guide to learning about them. I did end up driving away in the RF and have been more in love with it every time I get behind the wheel. It’s no wonder that he has been with Mazda for the long career he has enjoyed. I can’t thank him enough for his patience and knowledge as I made one of the easiest decisions I can remember to select this car. Anyone would be most fortunate to have Chris on their side when buying a car! More
