Bait and switch. My wife and I were looking at a year-old 4Runner that had a window sticker indicating a price of $73,093. When we talked to a sales person we discove My wife and I were looking at a year-old 4Runner that had a window sticker indicating a price of $73,093. When we talked to a sales person we discovered that the advertised price for the vehicle was only $60,078. We were surprised by this apparent steep discount and asked for verification of the price. The sales person checked with multiple superiors who assured her that the true Corwin Price for the vehicle was $60,078. Next we checked on trade-in value for our existing vehicle. The sales person was surprised that it was in such excellent shape and was sure that we would be offered a fair price ($29,000) for the trade in which Justice confirmed after a cursory inspection. After originally agreeing that it was in great shape, Justice Padilla conducted his "expert evaluation" and concluded that it was in "Good" condition which is defined by Kelley Blue Book as indicating that it, "Has repairable cosmetic defects and mechanical problems." Justice low-balled the trade-in value ($25,000). When called on his evaluation, Justice said that he bases his assessment on mileage and Very Good or Excellent only apply to vehicles with under 500 miles on them. To add injury to insult, Justice gave a price that was $1,690 higher than the sticker price and added in an extra $3,000 in false tax (intentionally put in the wrong tax rate). When we flatly rejected the bait-and-switch he came back with a revised offer that used the correct tax rate and took a bit off, but was still over $10,000 above the advertised and confirmed price. James Majors stood behind this bait-and-switch tactic and pretended that this was an inadvertent error despite an employee admitting that the price discrepancy between sticker and advertised price had been previously reported but no effort was made to change the advertised price. After we left the dealership they "fixed" the web page to show a price that was close to the sticker price. More

. I recently purchased two vehicles, and overall, I had a positive experience with the dealership. The facility was clean and welcoming, and I appreciated being able to browse the lot without feeling pressur positive experience with the dealership. I want to give special recognition to our salesperson, James. His professionalism, patience, and genuine attentiveness played a major role in our decision to move forward with not just one, but two purchases. If it hadn’t been for James, we likely would have walked away. He made the experience smooth and enjoyable from start to finish, and truly went above and beyond. Justice, another team member, became more approachable and pleasant once it was clear that we were serious buyers, which helped improve the dynamic during the process. However, the experience was not without its challenges. The process took nearly seven hours — much longer than expected — and I believe there is room for improvement in making transactions more efficient. In addition, the sales manager’s approach came across as lacking in the soft skills and customer service qualities that are so essential in this industry. A more engaging, customer-focused attitude at the management level would have made a significant difference in our overall experience. I want to emphasize that this feedback is not meant to be negative, but rather constructive. Since customer feedback was requested, I’m sharing my perspective honestly, and with the hope that it will support continued growth for the individuals involved. I work in a leadership role myself as a regional manager, and I understand firsthand how demanding these roles can be and how critical soft skills and emotional intelligence are to long-term success. I also understand that no experience is ever perfect — and sometimes things fall short despite best efforts. In spite of the areas for improvement, the dealership itself left a strong impression. Thanks to James and the quality selection of vehicles available, we left satisfied with our purchases. That said, I believe that if I had felt more heard and valued throughout the full experience, it would have increased the likelihood of me returning as a repeat customer.. but I’m not discounting as I believe we are all flawed, including myself and I will see how my other experiences are. More
