Kevin, that isn't a fair assessment of what happened. Let's set the record straight because as a 60+ year business, we take our credibility very serious. We pride ourselves on being fair & honest unlike some of our competitors who maybe do actually warrant the accusations of changing the terms of advertisements and deals. Absolutely nothing changed in regard to the terms of the deal you and we negotiated. Nothing! What did happen is you forgot and/or failed to mention that your trade-in's license plates were expired, unpaid and in penalty status at the time we negotiated the deal and you traded it in. We apologize for the time it took to complete the transaction, and do acknowledge it took longer than we typically shoot for. No excuses, but we were busier that day than normal. After we got all of our customers handled and on the road with their new vehicles, we got an opportunity to start working through all the paperwork. It was at this time WE discovered that your trade in's license plates had expired over a month prior. We ran a DMV inquiry on your license plates. The DMV report showed that you had failed to pay your registration when it had come due the previous month and the DMV was currently demanding the registration fee as well as late fees/penalties to get caught up. The total amount due the DMV from you at that time was $809. That amount was your responsibility. You had been operating the vehicle on the road with unpaid, expired plates. Keep in mind those $809 that we collected from you are ultimately paid to the government. So to say that we snuck in $2,000 of hidden fees changing the deal we agreed to just isn't a fair representation of what happened.
