The service department couldn’t figure out why and didn’t care. They reluctantly issued a rental in the meantime and then demanded it back. They called the cops and refused service, likely due to ageism. There was still no explanation for why the van suddenly stopped working. Extremely unprofessional and disappointing especially because it’s a brand new van and we purchased multiple new vehicles recently from this dealer. We won’t be going back. You shouldn’t do business here. They’re shady and you might get taken advantage of and screwed. Such an embarrassing experience. Embarrassed for the dealer. Corporate apologized on behalf of them but said they couldn’t do anything since the dealers are independently owned. More

Stay extra vigilant when car shopping, folks! I've been trying to help my retired mother purchase a car and it makes me angry to think that there are those out there who'd probably take advantage I've been trying to help my retired mother purchase a car and it makes me angry to think that there are those out there who'd probably take advantage if I wasn't around. We were looking at a pre-owned 2017 Kia Niro and made an appointment to come test drive and check it out. The test drive went fine, and we were about to pull the trigger on the purchase. But for my own peace of mind (I fix and maintain our family cars), I ran a full scan with my BlueDriver OBD2 scan tool (highly recommended btw!!), not really expecting to find anything. Imagine my surprise when it came up with 2 or 3 codes related to the dual-clutch transmission! We brought this up with the service center, who claimed it was repaired. They claimed the codes were still present because the vehicle was not driven through its drive cycles since performing the repair in order to clear the codes (nevermind the fact that I had just returned from a test drive or that the "repair" was nearly a month ago according to CarFax). I pose this question: Is a car that is currently logging trouble codes truly considered fixed, fit and ready for sale? From a customer's perspective, they simply replaced a part without knowing if it truly fixed the problem. For anyone with ANY mechanical knowledge....anyone who has ever had to go through the headache of repairing a check engine light or trouble code, you'll know that the repair is not complete until the code/light goes away and stays away! If my scan tool can still pick up the trouble codes, then I don't consider the repair job finished. Wouldn't you, a potential customer, agree? When asked if they'd own up to any future issues relating to the trouble code if one were to purchase the vehicle, I was then advised to purchase a separate warranty. Laughable to me, as they couldn't even be bothered to address the trouble codes currently logged by the car BEFORE sale! As I continued to question them, the sales rep cut me off and conveniently and coincidentally claimed the vehicle was "sold" to an old gentleman in the lobby. Uh-huh. Sure thing, bub. In this day and age, go somewhere more honest to spend your hard-earned money. More

Original: I took my car for two recalls. 2014 Soul. One recall was the ACU update the other was an engine fire/bearing test. After getting my car back it started sputtering on acceleration. I took it back and the problem persisted. One advisor said they DID feel what I felt yet the papers said they could NOT replicate it. The lead mechanic went on a ride with me and finally felt what I did. He checked the spark plugs and flashed the same software again and again and still the problem wasn't solved. The lead alluded that it could be the transmission failing but they did not check it. They did little to nothing to FIND and SOLVE the problem. They kept saying there was no error codes and couldn't offer any repair service. Well OBVIOUSLY there IS a problem. And it hasn't been solved. Anyone I spoke to seemed to have no sympathy or concern over my issue. This is my first and LAST time I'll ever bring my car here. It's clear they refuse to do actual work to FIND and SOLVE the obvious issue. Update1: it's been 4 days since I sent "Victoria the manager" an email and never responded. Just proves my point they don't care. UPDATE 2: i took my car to Carson Kia in which they informed me right away they could replicate and found the issue. they determined by swapping the spark plugs and coils that there was indeed a misfire from the plugs. i took it for a third opinion at a local mechanic who changed the spark plugs and the problem has been solved. no more misfire no more sputtering. IT WAS FIXED. Covina Kia's mechanics and advisors are liars. they said my spark plugs were fine and "looked brand new." they either didnt check them at all or when they did the recall to inspect the area, didnt reinstall them correctly. also i never got a call back from "Victoria the manager" or any response from her. More
