I was born in Silvis, Illinois and currently reside in Moline. I graduated form Rockridge High School on 2001. My appreciation for the automotive industry came as a young child with my family also being in the automotive industry. I began my career at Zimmerman as a lot porter in 2002, and in 2004 was promoted to an entry level technician in the service department. With years of experience as a used vehicle technician and associated training, I accepted a new position as a Service Advisor in 2012, and most recently service manager in 2021. It is my priority to ensure your vehicle is serviced accurately and timely to make your experience in Zimmerman service an excellent one. I am an avid Cubs and Bears fan who enjoys taking in a game or two when I can get away. Mr. Martel, First off we do want to thank you for your business. We do want to make sure we have exact facts cited here (some regarding $) so it can be accurate for all. We have reviewed this with all involved and reviewed all internal notes. Your service visit on 4/1/24 with Service Manager AJ with your 2019 Honda Civic was a result of multiple dash lights on. AJ informed you prior to any touching your vehicle that we have a diagnosis fee of $190 in which you would be responsible IF your warranty did not cover said "diagnosed" work. This was discussed with AJ prior to work being started, that the $190 + repairs (if you decide to proceed with repair) would be your responsibility if said diagnosed work is deemed by warranty company, "not a covered item or component." You signed repair order acknowledging your financial obligation to said repair order and the $190 diagnosis fee in order to proceed. The codes and diagnosis was 2583-76 (please Google). This could be for a variety of reasons, but most commonly the radar and bracket have gotten bumped/hit at some point and radar misaligned. AJ advised for the front radar calibration & alignment for $395.50 and you Mr. Martel declined and paid the diagnosis fee of $190 at this point. AJ also advised that possibly might need a front radar bracket as well. The next steps you took was into our GM's office, RC Rogers. He discussed the possibility of running it thru a car wash. As always we do aim to please and RC kept your information to make sure everything was followed as not just our policy, but also Honda factory training (nationally). The code diagnosed was correct, our only charge to you was the $190 and we verified that nothing would be covered with the warranty. You did NOT proceed any further with repair, and you declined service/repair. We are glad your car wash turned the lights off, which based on decades of vehicle experience is beyond rare. But this is why we ALWAYS give our customers the options to proceed or stop, in this case we are thankful you stopped and you ended up resolving on your own.
