LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE, DEALERSHIP IS COMPLETE SCAM!!! - WorseExperience
Worse experience ever! Sold me a total loss vehicle & failed to disclose. Salesman are shady and can't be trusted. Fraudulent Business! STAY AWAY!!!
This is my story . . .
I purchased a pre-owned vehicle from Fusion Autoplex located on 8408 S. Texas 6, Houston TX 77083. This was my first experience purchasing a car on my own and I admit I was naive. Upon entering this dealership, I was greeted by a man named Jessie. I informed him of my budget ($10,000) and he began to explain he had the perfect vehicle for me, but it was at his house. About 30 minutes later, someone arrives with the car from his house and he begins to say all the great things about this car. Jessie sensed my uneasiness and passed me along to a man named Adam Okur (Sales Manager) who attempted to pursade me further. I was overwhelmed by all the information they were giving me and felt uncomfortable. I explained I needed time to think and would contact them if I chose to purchase the car.
I got a phone call from Jessie two days in a row. The third day, I decided to check out another dealership. Jessie called again. He began questioning me about what I wanted to do and where I was at. I answered every question cluelessly and told him I was at Cowboys Automotive. He explained he knows who they are and they are 'bad business'. I began feeling like Jessie was looking out for me and was wanting to help me due to the fact I told him, I had never purchased a car and was not sure how to go about the process, little did I know he was taking complete advantage of me. He convinced me to go back to his dealership and that he would 'take care of me' and I believed him.
Later that day, I ended up purchasing the vehicle in $8,000 cash money because that was the only form Jessie was willing to take. He promised to put tints on the car, give me a free oil change, 75 months manufacture warranty and a keyless entry remote which ended up all being lies. I drove home in my new car, a 2014 Hyundai Sonata with 54,690 miles! I felt like my parents would be proud of me for doing this on my own . . . I was wrong.
The next day, I attempted to put insurance on the vehicle to find out it was a total loss car. After speaking with 3 different salesman, no one disclosed this information. I was told the title was clean and was shown car facts to confirm this fact. My dad and I went back to the dealership to get a refund and after 2 hours of debating, Adam agreed to refund $8,365 of the $9,000 I spent. He deducted $637 for the license and registration he said was already purchased. He printed the refund contract and we both signed it.
I arrived the next day with my dad to pick up my check. Adam asked for the refund contract to go and cut my check. Minutes later, he returned empty handed. He explained that the deal was off and a refund would no longer be given because he checked and the title is in fact clean. I was shocked. I could not believe that someone would stoop so low as to shred a document and be that shady. Immediately I began to cry and had to step out to get myself together. My dad stayed and talked to three different salesman, one of whom told me 'we don't take cars back because you changed your mind' and another who said "I will be willing to do you a favor and buy the car back for $5,000". My dad suggested we leave and just wait for the title in the mail which is what I am currently waiting on. Three days ago, I got an appraisal on the car and discovered it is worth $1,000. Needless to say, I was played.
I am a firm believer in what is done in the dark will always come to light. This dealership took my kindness for weakness and played on my lack of knowledge. I trusted every word they spoke which resulted in my signing documents, without reading each document thoroughly. I have lost every dollar I had saved for over 3 years. As an unemployed college student, this is not an easy lose. To end this with a cherry on top, the check engine light came on today and now I am worried the car will no longer be working. Not only will I be out $9,000 but I may no longer have a working vehicle.
I am hoping for the best and grateful that I was able to learn throughout this entire experience. Even though this was a loss, I was still able to gain. I gained knowledge and expertise in car shopping. I gained discernment and patience in knowing not to just trust what someone says but do my own research and understand my rights. I gained faith in knowing that no matter what, all things will work out for my greater good and those who profit off of hurting others will never prosper. I may not be the first person to have a bad experience with this dealership but I hope to be the last. My goal is to bring awareness to this fraudulent business, deter others from making the same mistake and ultimately getting a full refund that was once agreed upon.
