Ok, I decided to wait for about 3 months before I wrote this review regarding my experience with Ray Skillman Southside Hyundai.
Back in January of 2022 my wife and I were looking for a Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy. Due to COVID our local dealer in Terre Haute, IN didn’t have any and wasn’t expecting any until April or beyond. So we decided to look to Indianapolis for dealerships and came across Ray Skillman. From my house to the dealership one way is 77 miles. So, I called the dealership and was connected to Tyler. I told him what I wanted, and in the end the 77 mile trip was worth it. We got what we wanted for a better price. The entire deal was completed in less than one hour. Well, come to find out that the 2024 models of the Hyundai Santa Fe added an additional row of seats and was a bit bigger than our Calligraphy so we went to our local dealership in Terre Haute once again to see about trading in our current vehicle. To be honest, our Terre Haute dealership, who I had dealt with for years prior to COVID was terrible. The sales representative was very difficult to deal with, and I personally felt like she was not knowledgeable regarding the features of the vehicle. So, one again I called Ray Skillman and asked for Tyler. I told him what I was looking for; in this case it was a 2024 Santa Fe Limited. He let me know what he had. He mentioned that he had one in green which immediately caught my wife’s attention. So once again we drove the 77 miles to their dealership. And once again within one hour we drove out with our new Santa Fe. We had a better deal with a lower interest rate than with our Calligraphy, and to this day are completely happy.
Now, I have been a devoted Hyundai owner. I have owned 4 Sonatas, 1 Tucson, and now 3 Santa Fes. It’s save to say I am happy. I have never had any major problems with any of the vehicles I have owned. Of those eight vehicles, all but the last two were bought locally. And should I ever need to buy another Hyundai, it will be at Ray Skillman. And as long as Tyler is there, he will be the only salesman that I will deal with, though I would imagine that any salesman would be just as good. Tyler, with both of my deals didn’t have me leave the lot until I was comfortable with the features my car offered. He is also very faithful in following up weeks and even months later to insure you are pleased with your vehicle.
Now, at this same time my brother-in-law purchased a 2025 Grand Cherokee Limited. I had the privilege to help him set up the different options his vehicle had to offer. So, I just wanted to give a comparison. Yes, when I bought my vehicle I also purchased the extended warranty, the rim and tire package (which I had to use 2 weeks ago when I blew a tire on a pothole which saved me $412.00), and their top of the line Ziebart package. I have no regrets. But when I looked at the Grand Cherokee Limited compared it to my Hyundai Santa Fe Limited. There is absolutely no comparison. They both cost about the same, maybe the Grand Cherokee a bit more, but when it comes to all the features, the Grand Cherokee doesn’t even begin to come close. I would never consider the Cherokee after having driven the Santa Fe. I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone; before you shop for another comparable vehicle, take the time, go to Ray Skillman and test drive a Santa Fe and get the low down on all it has to offer. After you find out what it has and how comfortable it is to drive, any other vehicle in this class won’t do. And I emphasize to be sure to compare apples to apples.
So there you have it. No better deal than what you’ll get at Ray Skillman. No better attitude that what Tyler will present to you. No pressure to buy. And I truly feel that they are concerned about your needs and how they can come to a deal that will meet those needs in the price you can afford.
