I brought my car in for the anti-theft recall and and asked them to take a look at a noise I had coming from the engine. Ended up having to pay over $100 to remove a leaf. :( asked them to take a look at a noise I had coming from the engine. Ended up having to pay over $100 to remove a leaf. :( More

First off, I will say we got a fair deal, not a great deal. We're happy with the vehicle. Now for some advice and what was disappointing about our purchase experience. If you've a mind to buy a Hyunda deal. We're happy with the vehicle. Now for some advice and what was disappointing about our purchase experience. If you've a mind to buy a Hyundai in the Twin Cities area, check out Walser's on line prices; they won't bargain with you other than whatever incentives are being offered. With that offer in mind, go first to their competitors and see if you can strike a better bargain. If you have a trade in vehicle, do your homework as far as the value of your trade in. I guarantee, you will be low balled as to the value of your trade in and how you won't find a better offer - don't believe them. I would strongly recommend you go to a car buying service such as caredge.com; pay attention to the advice they give. (KBB and Edmunds have been losing some credibility lately). Go to used vehicle sites such as Carvana or Carmaxx to see what your trade in is selling for. Keep in mind the dealer will need to make some profit off your trade in, but your trade in is where you have some leeway in making a better overall deal for your new car. If you feel you're being low balled or lied to; walk. We did, and got a call back with a better offer for our trade in. I regret not staying firm on the minimum I would accept, feeling we could easily have been offered $500 to $1000 more for our trade and allow Walser to still make a fair profit off of our trade. That's neither here not there because we accepted the offer. Just my 2 cents worth on the deal itself. Next, the purchase experience. I could only describe it as an ordeal. We spent five stinking hours trying to work out a purchase (six if you count the trip back to the dealership when we were called and offered a better price on our trade). We were supposed to deal with one salesman through the process but ended up with constant consultations between the saleslady and her supervisor (?) with lengthy gaps in the time it took to get back to us with answers. (I will say, the lousy background music didn't improve our disposition during this lengthy stay... is there anything wrong with being able to converse without background noise?) The experience was 'annoying,' 'aggravating,' 'tedious,' at times, 'borderline insulting.' However; in the end we bought the vehicle, and are happy with it. I just wish we could have cut to the chase as far as the offer on our trade and saved all involved a whole lot of time. Oh, one other thing, the Document Transfer Fee. Shame on the State of Minnesota for allowing this $200 gouge. $200 to mail or electronically transfer the deal documentation. I don't know if this is a gift to the dealership or if they "have" to charge this amount, but it seems a legal swindle to me. This review asks Would you recommend this dealership? I intended to leave this blank but it won't let me, so it defaulted to "No." I would neither recommend nor not recommend. I'm sure there are plenty of folks out there quite satisfied with Walser.
