Above and Beyond the Call of Duty When I first walked in to the dealership, I wasn't impressed and thought about walking away. However, I did have some questions that weren't answered When I first walked in to the dealership, I wasn't impressed and thought about walking away. However, I did have some questions that weren't answered so decided to call in and try to discuss. It was then that Loren Landry accidentally answered my call to the salesman. Once Loren talked to me, he immediately gave me his cell number and said any questions, don't hesitate to call him. I called him and we discussed many options. He treated me like a CUSTOMER should be treated! He never stopped trying to make a hard situation, turn easy for me. He researched my issue and found out the problem and got me into the vehicle I wanted. I left happy, like every customer should leave a dealership. Loren Landry, I want you to know that people like you are rare, and the way you go above and beyond for customers is remarkable! You need to be sales of the year. Blessed to have met you, and please continue to show others that there are still GOOD PEOPLE IN THE WORLD TODAY!!! Very happy Owners, The Ronquille's More

I took it to Walker because they gave me the best price estimate and I thought (man, what was I thinking?) that they had a competent crew. It turns out that I was wrong on every point: The 18-year old kids who are barely certified to do more than oil changes, put in the wrong clutch damaging the flywheel. They actually lied on the receipt saying that I came in with the car shaking. Not true and I'll swear on this and use the other two diagnosis to prove that there was no shaking whatsoever. However, AFTER they put in the corrected part, the flywheel was damaged, the car shook like a cheap hotel vibrating bed, and it would slip into 1st gear by itself when the engine was revved up. They blamed it on a transmission mount. I paid for the mount. No difference. It seemed worse I demanded my cash back and they reused claiming that I had to give them a chance so "they could get it right." I threatened to sue and lawyers told me that the judge would give them a chance "to get it right." They lied to VW of American claiming that they refunded the mount, which was absolutely not necessary, they forgot to reinstall the bottom protective unit (protects the bottom of the car), they damaged two tubes which caused the car to cough and sputter just two months after their "work." Yes, the car is a 2001 and the repair was completed in 2011, but I baby this car. I still have it and it still gets 36 MPG in the City and 48 MPG on the highway. Most folks can't believe it's a 2001 TDI Beetle, thinking it was more like a 2009 or 2010. Walker VW apparently attempted to save on costs and hired newly graduated, unskilled, untested, technicians. The work they performed is well below par, and, in many ways, flagrantly illegal. I am not the only one suffering from their incompetence. Stay AWAY! More
Something unusual happened to me recently. I made a major consumer purchase (this time, a car repair) without first consulting an online review site - and I'm GLAD I did. My experience with Walker VW has bee consumer purchase (this time, a car repair) without first consulting an online review site - and I'm GLAD I did. My experience with Walker VW has been amazing. And I recommend them without question. A couple of weeks ago I found myself literally inches away from driving onto our infamous bridge over Lake Pontchartrain. My car engine stopped seconds before I would have nowhere to pull over for 24 miles. I called my insurance company who advised towing to the nearest dealership. Being new to town and with limited transportation options once my car was in the repair shop, I requested to be towed to the next nearest VW dealership, Walker VW, because it was closer to my home. I am probably the world's greatest skeptic when it comes to car dealerships. My experiences have ranged from fair to miserable so I wasn't looking forward to being in this position of having to rely on strangers to take care of my car. On top of this, I was leaving town for work in a couple of days and knew I would have to negotiate hundreds of miles away with the dealership, my insurance company, and the car rental company. My tow-truck driver buddy and I arrived at Walker on the rainy Saturday evening just after the service department closed. When I got out of the truck, there were a couple of sales guys standing outside. From their demeanor and comments, they immediately gave me the feeling that things were going to be ok. They suggested where to park the car and explained the process of leaving my keys for the service department that would open early Monday morning. Now, this next part was what I found very unusual... I hung out for nearly an hour waiting for a taxi that never arrived (things don't move too fast in New Orleans). While waiting, I had a chance to observe probably a dozen interactions between salespeople, customers, and managers. EVERY SINGLE INTERACTION was pleasant and courteous. I found myself looking out for the stereotypical slimy car dealership experience. It never happened. Every person was friendly with everyone else. I had to keep reminding myself that I was in a car dealership. This courteous and very respectful interaction continued early the following week when I had a few conversations with "Rita" in the Walker VW service department. From the first moment we spoke, I felt like "this lady is completely in charge and she's going to take care of everything for me." I go through life acting like a big boy most of the time but being alone in a new city without a phone full of #'s to call when something happens can make me feel like a helpless kid again. It was odd how just talking to Rita (and thinking back to the way everyone treated each other Saturday evening) that this situation was going to work out ok. Oh, and soon after leaving town in the rental car, I learned a huge hurricane was heading straight for New Orleans. Again, Rita assured me everything was going to be ok. AND IT WAS. The repair was priced fairly, the dealership took car of a couple of recalls that I had long forgotten about AND THEY EVEN FIXED SOMETHING ELSE that would have cost me $500 - AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE. They just saw that it needed to be done and took care of it. Thank you Rita and the entire team at Walker VW. I have no doubt where I'll go when it's time to purchase my next car. More

I got into an accident over 130 days ago and have yet to get my car back. They say they are working on my car and that it will be ready next week..... that had been going on for 3 months before I decided to contact the Corporate Volkswagen. Once I had gotten ahold of them I thought my car was sure to be ready in no time. I was wrong, because WALKER VOLKSWAGEN was lying to CORPORATE!!! This is a nightmare that I never would have dreamed I would be dealing with. Do yourself a favor and stay far FAR away from these people. They're not worth it. More
This is NOT about making errors in billing. This is not about the car itself. This is about a service cover-up, possible intentional fraud and deceit: I had two other repair shops evaluate my problem an about the car itself. This is about a service cover-up, possible intentional fraud and deceit: I had two other repair shops evaluate my problem and both recommended a clutch replacement. Why in God's name did I select Walker to do the work? Price was the motivating factor. I should've checked the evaluations. The apparently 17-year old tech who did the work, installed the wrong REBUILT VW clutch part, breaking the flywheel or other associated parts. Another clutch was ordered, more waiting.. After the second clutch was "installed" the car shook like a cheap vibrating hotel bed. This was AFTER the "Corrected clutch" was replaced. A transmission part was ordered and installed. The repair sheet was altered to make it look like I said that the car shook when I brought it in! (FRAUD!) I never said it was shaking and if it was the flywheel should've have been part of the repair, right (it wasn't)? In addition, before WALKER acknowledged that it was the flywheel that they broke, they installed an unnecessary "transmission mount," (I have a stick shift). Later, they told VW that they reimbursed me for the unnecessary part. I still have the good part in my garage. (FRAUD!) Anyone want to see it? Any lawyers out there want to make some easy money? So, after going to other dealerships I asked for my money back from Walker to get a corrected installation by the folks I should've gone with in the first place. Walker refused, I complained to VW. The National VW folks were useless. Walker finally agreed to make it right: It still shakes, the linkage is not what it used to be, (occasionally grinds going into 2nd gear) and several expensive parts were mysteriously damaged in the process of repair, showing up weeks later (an intake tube that looks shaved, etc.) They also failed to reinstall my car's protective panel under the car. They did loan me a car during this 6-week ordeal. No apologies from Walker. I am buying a new car next month, probably one of the high-end hybrids. I will never buy a VW again. I will never recommend VW, and I will always warn folks who have any VW model to NEVER, EVER go to either of the Walker shops on the New Orleans area (the Norhshore shop installed a power window motor and broke a switch holder on the driver's side!- poor installation!). STAY AWAY FROM WALKER. More
We have had a few problems with the Jetta throughout the years since we purchased it in 2006, but the service department always handled the repairs in a prompt, and professional manner. I personally want years since we purchased it in 2006, but the service department always handled the repairs in a prompt, and professional manner. I personally want to thank Rita Day for her professionalism, and her kindness in helping during an out of town problem that we had recently. She was instrumental in getting us back on the road. Walker Volkswagen is lucky to have her as an employee. Thank you Rita! Bill and Brenda. More
