The car buying experience is never fun, and our experience at Volvo required a lot of negotiation before we arrived at a price that achieved our objective. If Volvo required exceptional customer service of its staff, with an emphasis on professionalism and determining customer needs (versus dealer financial objectives), then they would have a clear competitive advantage over their competitors. To these points, we dealt with multiple individuals during the car buying experience, with no clear explanation as to the rationale for the change in personnel, and the initial price offering was significantly higher than the sticker price due to add-on’s that were neither requested nor wanted. Our final negotiated price was only achieved when we had declined to take the ‘final’ offer and were walking off the lot. So all in all, our experience at Volvo was stereotypical of the consumer concept of auto dealers. More

I usually don't write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my recent car-buying experience, particularly after purchasing my recent 2024 Volvo XC40 Ultimate. Although I'm thrilled with the vehicle itsel share my recent car-buying experience, particularly after purchasing my recent 2024 Volvo XC40 Ultimate. Although I'm thrilled with the vehicle itself, the process of buying it from Volvo of Bellevue, part of the Swickard auto group, left much to be desired. Having bought various cars over the years, ranging from budget-friendly to high-end luxury models, I've seen my fair share of dealership dynamics. Unfortunately, this experience was notably subpar. Communication was consistently poor throughout the process. Despite placing a downpayment, the dealership struggled to even locate my vehicle at times. They also attempted to push expensive "protection packages" without providing clear documentation of what was included or how it would be applied. The finance manager employed high-pressure tactics to sell pre-paid maintenance and extended warranties, which did not sit well with me. What disappointed me the most was the lackluster customer service that didn't seem to match the premium quality associated with Volvo. In the past, I've had smoother and more transparent experiences at dealerships selling less expensive models. For anyone considering a Volvo, especially in the Bellevue or Seattle areas, I would recommend looking for alternatives outside of the Swickard auto group, as both their locations seem to struggle with these issues.
