My fiance recently busted her lower radiator hose on an 02 Passat and so we had it towed to Neftin. I have driven only toyotas and hondas in the past 15 years and have had excellent experience with dealer service. Now I know why I wouldn't by a VW. First, they charged $100 just to look at the car. Then, the recommded over $1200 worth of unnecessary service to my fiance (including new engine mounts.) When I got on the phone and asked about the radiator, they said they didn't have the hose. I said I'd go to NAPA and get one for them. Long and short, they took 5 days to replace a hose, charged over $300 and then stole CD, cash and other items out of the car! It was a horrible experience and I tell everyone I know to avoid them as a dealership. More
The only reason for the 2 on friendlyness is that they smile when they're lying to you.

I recently had my car in for it's 30K service at Neftin VW in Thousand Oaks. Par smile when they're lying to you.

I recently had my car in for it's 30K service at Neftin VW in Thousand Oaks. Part of that standard service included a tire rotation.

When I got my car back it had a severe vibration at freeway speeds.
I called the dealer the next day. I was told that it was probably due to uneven wear and I needed to take
it to a tire shop to get it fixed.
I said that that could not be the problem as it had no vibration when I brought it in.
After talking to two different service people, one fnally agreed that they would try balance whichever one of my tires was causing this issue, they just needed to verify with their tire contractor, and would call me back immediately. They never called back.

Since I had to go in again for a warranty item I thought I'd wait and bring it up again then. I did. They said it would be taken care of. When I picked it up, I was told that the tires were "out of round" due to improper inflation. I check my tires every month. I know that not to be the case. When I asked why the problem was not present before I brought it in the first time, I was told "the problem tires were on the front, where there is more weight, so you wouldn't feel it". I now know that this was completely untrue. They said I needed to go to a tire shop and replace whatever tires were causing the problem.
After two trips to your dealer, I still needed to spend half of my weekend at the tire shop where I bought them, and they re-balanced the tires and everything was fine.

I am appauled at this quality of service and utter dishonesty and lack of integrity of the service managers at this dealership.
I now cannot believe anything that they tell me, nor can I ever expect my car to get the level of service
I expect from paying top dollar to a supposed VW certified mechanic.

More
