UPDATE: Now my rack & pinion is going out. The shop estimates it'd be $880 to fix. This car's falling apart, and now I've pretty much resolved to drive it until the wheels fall off and save repair money for a down payment on a used car from a reputable dealership. Buy at your own risk. I wouldn't recommend buying a car from them unless you just don't have any other option... and even then, I'd seriously advise just walking/riding the T. UPDATE 7/28/07: In response to rando’s review, I do agree that paying $800 or less for a car and expecting it to be perfect is unreasonable. However, paying $2000 for a car (which ‘books about the same) and then having to shell out several grand to get it running decent, is not. One might argue that I should have known what I was getting into... but not everyone is a mechanic (I'm certainly not) and it's ridiculous to expect such. Is it too much to ask a business to be honest? The starter just went out on it, too... they sold me a lemon, and I personally think they knew it was a lemon when they sold it to me. At this point I’m just going to bite the bullet, take out a note on a late model Certified Used Honda, and make payments. More
!!Avoid this dealer like the plague unless you are a mechanic with a ton of spare parts and are looking for a project car.!! Went to look at a 92' Sentra that they had advertised for slightly below b mechanic with a ton of spare parts and are looking for a project car.!! Went to look at a 92' Sentra that they had advertised for slightly below book. It had some minor cosmetic issues (headliner, etc) and was running a little rough, but drove okay during my test drive. I asked them if any major repairs needed to be done, as I had some cash for repairs socked away and knew it'd need some work (I was thinking about $500-$750). They said that a tune-up and fluid flush should be about it, possibly some brake adjustments etc (standard stuff). I paid cash and drove it home that day. Next day I get it to my mechanic and have him go over it with a fine-toothed comb. HOLY !@#$. So far I've replaced engine mounts, transmission mounts, all fluids & belts, a busted valve gasket cover, two CV shafts, had the intake cleaned and the engine degreased, and now I'm going to need to replace the front brake system and get the rear brakes adjusted, etc. He stated that the majority of these things appeared to have been patched/rigged to operate for a short while... one of the CV shafts had a diagonal CUT, and looked to have been deliberate. All things that the average person probably won't know how to spot. Once I get my brake system done, my mechanic says that the car will be in good mechanical shape. Too bad that I've had to pay more in mechanical repairs ($2100) than I did for the car itself (after TTL and Registration was around $2000). BUYER BEWARE - Don't let the cheap prices fool you! You will get ripped off! More
I only recommend this dealership if you are mechanically inclined and are looking for something to cobble together for driving. The last time I went to this lot was to buy a 1985 Chevrolet Celebrity advert inclined and are looking for something to cobble together for driving. The last time I went to this lot was to buy a 1985 Chevrolet Celebrity advertised for $399 in the Auto Trader. The vehicle was buried in the back and they tried to sell me a $899 Grand Am instead. I insisted on driving the Celebrity because it was what I wanted. They tossed me the keys while they went to get a jump box and gas and keys for the cars in its way. Celebrity fired right up, it had issues but nothing I didn't think I could handle. By the time they got everything out of the way for a test drive, they decided they didn't want to let me test drive it because it was closing time. So they took the keys and told me to leave and come back in the morning. I did so and they did me the favor of having it out ready to go when I got there. Took the test drive and it was running hot when I got back, so I decided not to buy. They accused me of driving it too hard even though their mechanic was with me and I didn't go over 40 or stand on it or anything. Basically went three blocks over, one down, three back, and one up. Not a long trip at all. So I won't be buying any cars there unless it's something I can't live without. And unfortunately, I'm headed back there this afternoon to look at a(an) (allegedly) running Ranger they have for way too cheap. More
