The dealership called two days ago to offer “customer appreciation” services at zero cost. I made an appointment for today. I should have known better. My husband tried to warn me, but I wanted to have f appreciation” services at zero cost. I made an appointment for today. I should have known better. My husband tried to warn me, but I wanted to have faith in Toyota. The young man who assisted me tried to upsale other services, which I expected to happen. I declined all but one of the services I was originally offered, which was wipers. The rear wiper was not included in the “zero cost” offer, but I asked about adding it and he quoted me $15 plus tax. He handed me his iPad that listed the price of the wipers and told me he would take off the price of the front wipers in the final tally before I left. When the new wipers were installed and he came to cash me out, he said “I quoted you $15 but it was actually $29 and I took a little off of that, if that’s ok?”. I told him it was absolutely not ok and that he was charging me double after giving me the price of $15 which was on the preliminary doc I signed on his iPad. It’s unconscionable that this was attempted on me, a good customer, which was given as the reason for the call two days ago inviting me to come in for this “thank you” complimentary service . If he had made a mistake on the cost he quoted me, why wouldn’t he have come to me before the work was done to admit that and ask whether I wanted to proceed? One can only guess how often this happens to unsuspecting and vulnerable customers. What a despicable business practice this is, to try a 100% upcharge on a product that has a firm, listed price. It’s not as if mechanics got under the hood and found a problem. This was simply a blatant attempt to rip me off. After I told the young man that this price was NOT ok, he went to another man and then brought a revised bill to me with the originally quoted price, and had little to say to me by way of apology. Toyota should be embarrassed if this is how the company conducts business, and should reprimand employees at all levels for this egregious conduct. When Holly was in the service department in the early years of our having our Highlanders, the experience was top notch. Since she’s been away from there, we’ve seen a steady decline in customer service. Today was the last time we’ll visit Toyota. We’ll spend our money with a local shop that is trustworthy. More
The repair work they did not do what they said. Had a door lock issue that they did not have a part in stock and they would have had to order it resulting in a total repair cost of about $500. The fix without the new part was only able to fix part of the problem so I had them stop the repair. The temporary fix did not do what they said it would do so I paid $275 for nothing. More
