I purchased a 2008 Prius from Toyota of Nashua. I went through Costco's auto buying program, and the sales person I worked with - John McGuire - was a decent, low-pressure guy. I came to Toyota of Nash through Costco's auto buying program, and the sales person I worked with - John McGuire - was a decent, low-pressure guy. I came to Toyota of Nashua because the Costco program referred me to them specifically (I live in Mass, and there were many dealers closer that also had cars on the lot I would have been interested in). I called the dealer, set up an appointment, showed up on a Friday. The sales person I was scheduled with handed me off to John; turns out to be fine since the original guy seemed sketchy. We walked out to see the 2 Priuses on the lot, saw the one I wanted, headed in to talk price. We sat down, John brought me the Costco price sheet, I reviewed all the numbers & options on the car, and agreed to the deal. No back & forth. After we filled everything out & I gave my downpayment check, I spoke briefly with the finance guy. He talked extended warranties, and also to his credit, really didn't pressure me to buy one (I decided not to in the end). After getting it registered in Mass, I came back to the dealer the next day & picked up my car after John sat with us & showed us all the Prius features/controls. Great experience overall, and I got a reasonable price on the car. I think working with John & through the Costco program made all the difference. More
Javel was knowledgeable about the car, and very pleasant to deal with. Everything went well until we were ready to talk price. Then we had to get into that whole "good cop/bad cop" thing, where the sales pe to deal with. Everything went well until we were ready to talk price. Then we had to get into that whole "good cop/bad cop" thing, where the sales person tells you that his mean manager just won't go any lower, and then he somehow manages to talk the manager into lowering the price "just for us". I find this whole process very annoying. Why can't they just tell me their best price right up front, instead of playing all these stupid games?? Anyway, after an hour of dickering, we finally agreed on a price, but my husband wanted 24 hours to review the details before we signed the papers. We left there with a note in Javel's handwriting, stating that the price was good until the end of the month. Javel told us that he was going on vacation, but that his manager had agreed to this price. When we called the next day to make the final commitment, the sales manager refused to honor the price we'd been given. We explained that Javel had gotten this price approved and that we'd been promised that the price was good until the end of the month. The sales manager got all huffy and said that there was no way he would sell it for that price. We ended up at ActonToyota.com, where we had a great sales experience. Got exactly the car we wanted for exactly what we wanted to pay, and NO HASSLES! More
Took my car in for a 5,000 mile service and everything was OK. Not great but not terrible either. Unimpressive is probably the best word to describe my experience. $120 for a basic service is way too stee was OK. Not great but not terrible either. Unimpressive is probably the best word to describe my experience. $120 for a basic service is way too steep for me. I had to come back with my warranty book for them to stamp it (I guess it was too much work for them to do it on their own). Offered a "free" car wash... I could have done a much better job myself. Work was finished when promised. More
Negotiated a very good price with their inet saleperson (mainly by citing quotes from Westborough and Acton Toyota in Mass). Made it very clear I didn't want surprises and wanted a firm "out the door" all (mainly by citing quotes from Westborough and Acton Toyota in Mass). Made it very clear I didn't want surprises and wanted a firm "out the door" all inclusive price. Salesperson consulted with manager, and came back with a very good price. Called again late that afternoon, to confirm price and get details of car I'd forgot to write down before. She checked inventory and said they had 8 in stock they'd sell for the quote price, in the colors I wanted. Went down the following day to get the car. Saleman (not the inet one who was not there that day) did the whole sleezy salesman routine, went to managers office and came back with a price $330 higher than I'd been quoted. I explained we had already agreed on the price and didn't need all the closing-room dramatics, but he said it was because the car they'd quoted on wasn't there anymore, and the only ones they had left had more options hence the higher price. Seemed odd they could have sold every base model in stock since the day before, so I told them it was smelling a bit like bait-and-switch and I wanted a car at the promised price. The inched down on price everytime I started to leave, but by the time they made what I felt was an acceptable offer (still higher than the promised price) we were so totally sick of the place that we decided we simply didn't want to buy a car from them at any price, let alone give them a chance to spring any more suprises. So don't believe anything they tell you over the phone, and be ready for last minute surprises should you consider buying a car from them. The irony about the whole mess was that we had gotten similar price quotes from several other dealers, and chose to go to them because they had the largest inventory, and hence, we thought, the best chance of finding just what we wanted. I tried to buy my second truck there. It took way to long, too much game playing. Typical car dealership. I am a contractor and time is valuable. I thought the 2nd purchase would be easier. I ended long, too much game playing. Typical car dealership. I am a contractor and time is valuable. I thought the 2nd purchase would be easier. I ended up going to another dealership where I was able to complete most of the transaction thru the internet. More
It seemed to that the staff was willing to work with customer in regards to the pricing and financing, as opposed to a dealership in Acton MA that treated us like we a dime a dozen.....We came in just t customer in regards to the pricing and financing, as opposed to a dealership in Acton MA that treated us like we a dime a dozen.....We came in just to look around and three days later, we had the price on the car and trade-in that we were comfortable with, as well as a lower financing rate than AAA.....I feel good about recommending this dealership. I have a Tundra and got lured in there from a mailer that offered a $9.95 oil change. Of course they found other stuff wrong during the oil change and wanted 450 bucks to repair them. I said no thanks and ne offered a $9.95 oil change. Of course they found other stuff wrong during the oil change and wanted 450 bucks to repair them. I said no thanks and next day I went to a local service center and repairs were HALF PRICE!! They are a shifty bunch of classic car salesmen. I figure one of the reasons things are so expensive is because of their overhead, the service area and restrooms have granite countertops and tiles, plus all the salesmen wear stupid looking expensive suits (honestly, who wears a yellow plaid suit besides pimps?). To make matters worse the sales manager looks like a TV Evangelist! I felt totally uncomfortable dealing with these people and will never go back -- My advice: Shop and get service somewhere else! We visited this dealership last week to look at Rav4's and Higlanders. As is typical with most dealerships, we were greeted in the lot by a salesperson (Eric) but found him to be pleasant and most import and Higlanders. As is typical with most dealerships, we were greeted in the lot by a salesperson (Eric) but found him to be pleasant and most importantly, well educated about their cars and a "no pressure" type guy. He encouraged us to go test drive a Honda (we were between that and a Toyota) and if he could help down the road to just let him know. After dealing with 3 other dealers - Boch (awful, but decent price); Acton Toyota (on follow up rep called and couldn't remember the car we were looking at), and Manchester (rep kept going back to sales manager. Couldn't answer anything on his own) - we went back to Nashua today. I told Eric precisely what I wanted to put down and pay expecting a 2006 Highlander Sport, and he got me into a Highlander Ltd for the same price. Car is MORE than we expected and the experience dealing with Eric was a true pleasure! No back and forth with Sales manager, no pressure with Eric OR the finance manager. I highly recommend this dealership -and Eric - to anyone looking at Toyotas!! More
