I approached the business of buying a new Jeep with a lot of trepidation. I had been driving the same car for the last sixteen years (!) and had finally decided to get a new vehicle. I did a great deal of research and had a very good idea of what I wanted and was willing to pay. Phil Smith at Texas Dodge understood this perfectly. He found exactly the Jeep I was looking for and made me a great deal. He has followed up completely to make sure I am fully satisfied. Mr. Smith is an honest guy and the folks he works for are committed to their customers. I could not have had a better experience or made a better deal. This dealership is just great, and I cannot recommend it more highly. More
I took my 08' 3500 diesel in for warranty work around Mid July because I was wanting the job done before warranty ran out and before I got busy with harvest. The vehicle was driving fine, just had a slight s July because I was wanting the job done before warranty ran out and before I got busy with harvest. The vehicle was driving fine, just had a slight squeal when towing trailer, and needed a transmision service. They wanted to give me $3800 worth of repairs that, in my opinon were not needed, cuz it was driving fine. They did change the manifold gaskets to solve the squeal. Got it out of shop and was in worse condition than when it went in. Got a few miles down the road, front end went to shaking and hit the ditch when the tie rod ends fell off. Got the rod wired back on to get home and barely made it home because it was sputtering and dying. I went to the local Auto Zone for the code reader. The reader showed turbo potientometer was wrong. I called to confront them on it and they said they redid the manifold gaskets, and never touched the exhaust system. I may not be the smartest person in the world, but i did grow up on a farm and the manifold is part of the exhaust. When I arrived at my shop I found pry bar marks on the tie rod dampener were they tryied to remove them and claim that they needed replaced, (my guess is so they could sell parts). I got extremly busy with harvest so first chance I got, took it back in for corrections. More things came up broken while it was in there position. A broken radiator neck, my air cleaner was removed and my vehicle was left out side in the weather, internal engine exposed. They were claiming that a dirty air filter was the problem, but yet they leave my air filter out while sitting out side. The service manager assured me that nothing was getting hurt by just sitting out there. I'm sorry but this is west Texas were the wind blows, and whirl winds are pretty common. I ran my finger in the intake tube and there was dirt already present. I asked them to stand behind there mess ups and was told that the things that were broken was, and I quote "Not our problem." I asked them to replace the radiator but they wanted to epoxy it. I contacted 2 different radiator shops and had them on speaker phone and they said epoxy will not hold. There response was "Not our problem." I then asked that if there "epoxy patch" didn't hold and I got 10 miles down the road and my engine over heats and blows who was a fault. They told me "not out problem" it would be my expence. The service manager claimed that they did not break it, but could not tell me who worked on it to verify it with the mechanic. I know for a fact that it was in good condition when I took it in for repair because when we left, I only made it a few miles before it started to run warm on the tempeture gauge. The first trip I made to them, they said I had a u-joint coming apart. On the following visits they could not tell me which one was damaged. So in my personel opinon, they just wanted to sell parts. The pickup is now at a dealer that cares. I took it to Benders in Clovis Nm. Benders checked things out and they want to fix the problems not patch them so i can return in a few months to do it all over again like Texas Dodge wants. Benders also wanted to replace the shifting seal that Texas Dodge already fixed. Wether it wasn't done or done wrong, I have to pay for it twice. It is bad when a dealership is more worried about selling parts and making a dime than making a happy customer for future referals. More
My experience with Texas Dodge was a nightmare from the very beginning... From the time we stayed for over 3 hours waiting to sign papers including the misrepresentation of the price, to the false info very beginning... From the time we stayed for over 3 hours waiting to sign papers including the misrepresentation of the price, to the false information we were given at our signing regarding the life insurance policy we took out (encouraged us to not indicate we had diabetes and heart medications by telling us that the were only concerned about uncontrolled medical conditions -- only to read the policy later and find out that it was not true), to the problems we have had with the truck (vibration they could not figure out nor was convinced that I even had a problem (I had to determine the cause on my own), to the problem I had with the truck with unexplained incidences of windows rolling down, doors unlocking, overnight (allowing it to get wet on the one night it did rain) and sometimes during the day (again I had to figure out that the problem was a short in my second key and had to replaced at my own expense without reimbursement from Texas Dodge), to the rudeness of their Repair Department manager. The bright side of the experience is getting to work with Larry Little, one of their used car sales people. He did everything he could to work with me and help me (getting me car replacements even when it was not their policy to do so)... More
Phil was great! We had some credit problems and needed a second vehicle. Phil was able to help us get what we needed. I started off my car shopping experience talking to Eric Smith, he was in the middle of helping another customer so Brandon Bourke took over talking to us. I advised him that I had $6000 to put down and I want to finance $8000, and I was looking at a Chevy Trailblazer. I advised Brandon that I didn't want a payment over $200 and he told me that wasn't going to happen. He told me I would have to pay $300/mo, I told him that would mean paying for a car or feeding my children. He stopped me and told me to not interrupt him and let him finish. Long story short more conversation about price and then it ended on him telling us not to wast his time. After 2.5 hours I honestly think my time was getting wasted, I wasn't getting paid to have someone talk to me like that. I then went to a different dealership and purchased a vehicle that was everything I wanted a SUV, low mileage, fuel efficient, and roomy (3rd row seating) for $180/mo, plus received double the offer Texas Dodge gave me for my vehicle. I would never ever recommend Texas Dodge and I tell everyone my experience anytime there is a discussion about car lots or any questions on my new vehicle. More
The salesman, Hayden Gibbs, did a great job and was very helpful in working with me to buy a used Volvo. We made the deal quickly and I was ready to leave but had to wait about an hour and a half for all th helpful in working with me to buy a used Volvo. Could have been asked to come back after they had finished the paperwork. Other than that, great experience. Hayden is new but very good at helping the customer feel welcome. More
From start to finish, Texas Dodge was helpful, insightful, courteous and made what is normally a painful affair, tolerable and almost enjoyable (as if any time you spend 25K is enjoyable.) I purchased a 2005 Jeep Wrangler in February for my daughter who would turn 16 in May. The buying experiance was excellent, it was all done over the phone and they delivered the Jeep 70 +/- miles to my daughter who would turn 16 in May. When we started using the Jeep in May, it had a bad u-joint, the shifter cable broke, and it had a bad tie rod end. I had to eat the expense of the repairs. I think those items should have been inspected and corrected by the dealer prior to sale. Not to be too hard on them, they did give a $50 discount off of a service bill that was close to $800.
