My opinion is that a reasonable person might conclude that the dealer just confirmed what I complained about. There is no argument that the advertised selling price does not contain taxes, tags, fees. In fact, in a complaint filed with the NC Department of Justice, my confirming email shows that I asked for the final price including taxes, tags, and doc fees. However, I also provided screenshot copies advertising Terry Labonte Chevrolet's price of "$28,035 on multiple advertisements with the same price, but under the headings of, "Internet Price", "$28,035","Dealer Asking Price", "New 2019 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible $28,035", "Sale Price",and "Price". Additionally, I received an email confirmation directly from Mr. German Lima, Business Development Representative who explained he is with the Internet Sales Team at Terry Labonte Chevrolet and in the email are the words, "Quote for the vehicle you requested: "Stock Number 15947" "MSRP: $37,535.00", "Terry's Price: $28,035.00". Now, below the dealer states what appears to be a different way of handling. I feel that most people can understand that if the "Sales Price" is $28,035.00, then reasonable taxes, tags and fees would put the final price around $29,700.00 - but not $36,000 as originally quoted, or the separate "special price" of $33,850.02 as was later quoted from Mr. Hengler based on the "Total Purchase" of $32,035.00 (not the advertised $28,035.00). I think at least some people reading this will get picture of what my opinion wonders if this is a classic "bait and switch" strategy... "bait" to get the customer to contact the dealer and attempt to make the purchase,..."switch" because "there are additional charges and you do not qualify for all discounts, blah, blah, blah? I will let the reader decide for themselves how they would want to be treated. Where I come from, a "Sales Price" of $28,035.00 is a sales price of $28,035 (before taxes, tags, doc fee), not $32,035 or higher. As for the alleged "dealer installed accessories", whether included or not, if a dealer states on a quote that the sales price is $28,035.00, then my opinion is that a reasonable person would conclude that $28,035.00 is the sales price. I have heard the term before of "Buyer Beware", so the reader can be the judge if that term applies to this item or not. In my opinion, when a reputable car dealership advertises a car with a sales price of $28,035... they actually go ahead and sell the car at the price they advertised (plus taxes, tags, and doc fee) and do not try to get a higher price.
