This was apparently obvious when they chattered across the windshield during a rain/snow storm and left nothing but streaky dirt. (Strike 1 for Service). Today, I took it in for a license plate falling off. It appears that the original salesperson at Ted Britt not only didn't use the bolts provided by Ford, but used a couple different sizes (Strike 2 to Sales). The mechanic was apparently raised on old farm equipment somewhere in the mountains because he used Grade 8 gold-colored bolts to fasten the license plate to the vehicle (Strike 3 to Service). When I spoke with the Service Manager about this, his reply was (paraphrased), "We have some bins of bolts they use and I guess he just chose to use these." He eventually apologized, and even offered to insert square plugs into the round bolt holes so I could use normal license plate bolts. I thanked him for the offer but don't want to see what their "Ted Britt 4 Life" service experts have in store next. One of the key selling points is the Ted Britt 4 Life coverage of the vehicle -- as long as you have all service performed at Ted Britt. This creates the double jeopardy of getting a nice car serviced by people who can't check windshield wipers or install license plate bolts, then trusting them to fix something as complex as an engine, transmission -- or brakes. Scarier yet, these are the same people performing safety inspections for the state of Virginia. In fairness, the Sales Manager I dealt with when I bought the car offered to fill the tank up for the wipers, and even offered to buff out the scratches the detail team sanded into the car with dirty rags. That said, my advice is still to do yourself a favor and stay as far away from Ted Britt as possible. You will be better off going to the car lot with the dilapidated mobile home that doubles as office and repair shop. More
Laurel was extremely helpful and friendly when I went to pick up my vehicle. She went above and beyond to help determine when my vehicle would be ready, and made me feel valued as a customer. pick up my vehicle. Excellent service. My 2002 T-Bird had a gas leak had it towed to Ted Britt where I purchased the car years ago. Everyone but especially Richard were very nice and professional. towed to Ted Britt where I purchased the car years ago. Everyone but especially Richard were very nice and professional. More
I bought my 1998 Ford Explorer 15 years ago from Ted Britt Ford - and Ted Britt Ford has been servicing it since I bought it. I have dealt with Mr. Funk the entire time and there is no better. The w Britt Ford - and Ted Britt Ford has been servicing it since I bought it. I have dealt with Mr. Funk the entire time and there is no better. The whole staff is polite, courteous, bright and funny as well as helpful. Gary and his team always find anything that might be wrong with my truck - which in the 15 years I've owned it has been extremely seldom. It is the best vehicle I've ever owned (and that includes my 1974 Dodge Charger, and 1967 Ford Mustang). The truck is a work-horse, and possibly the best investment I've ever made. I would buy from them again anytime. And as long as Mr. Funk works there, I'll be taking my vehicle there for servicing. As long as Ford is in business and I live back on the east coast, I'll be dealing with Ted Britt Ford. Saying these things about an auto dealership is not the norm for me - as a female in our society, it can be a challenge to try and buy a vehicle. But it never was at Ted Britt, and I was never treated like I was missing brain cells because of my gender. They're truly a great business and hire intelligent people. More
